STAT 252 Choose two of English 135, 146, 147, 225 The School of Business will accept the following courses as an alternative to satisfy the Math/Statistics requirement: ECON 245 and ECON 246 OR STAT 255 and STAT 256 Of these combinations, 1.5 units satisfy the Math requirement and 1.5 units satisfy the Statistics. International Students may be required to complete COM 206C and COM 290 which are only offered in January each year. Please see a Business adviser in September and submit a Single Course Application by September 30 to be registered if space allows. (Com 290 and Com 100 are mutually exclusive; both cannot be taken for credit). Students with an interest in International Business are strongly recommended to take a foreign language course within their first two years. Electives: Recommended: COM 100, ECON 104 and 205, MATH 100 or 102, STAT 359, PHIL 201 or 330, THEA 150 or 122, ES 200, EPHE 142, FA 101, SOCI 100A and 100B, and CSC 100 or 105. Non-Business courses in other disciplines to make up 30 units (min. GPA 5.0 {B+, 73%} in recent 30 units) (maximum of 4.5 units of Commerce transfer credit: check with a BCom adviser!) Note: COM 100 is an acceptable elective. Not acceptable pre-commerce courses: COM 220, 240, 250 and 270. 30 units of Pre Commerce electives include the 5 required courses listed above Refer to the study plan for ideas on course placement. (7.5 units required courses + 22.5 units electives = 30 units pre-commerce). Electives are courses of the student’s choice and can be at any academic level. Examples of some electives are Math, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, History, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, English, Theatre and Languages. Students should consider taking elective courses to complement what they plan on studying in the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business and/or also as a backup plan for another program in case their admission to BCom is not successful. You might also consider Faculty of Humanities: Certificate in Language and Cultural Proficiency in your pre-commerce elective choices. Work Term Requirement: Students applying directly into year three (direct entry to the core program) should have completed or prepare to challenge the first required coop work term; otherwise, students will complete three co-op works term during their final years of the program.
