The clinic is closed daily

Individual therapy sessions
are 45 minutes in length
and start on the hour.
Group sessions vary
from 45 minutes to
one hour in length.
Length of evaluations
will vary based on
the needs of the client.
Audiological appointments
are scheduled directly with
the audiologist and
are based on times
of availability.

Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic
The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is
located within the Department of
Communication Sciences and Disorders
and is housed in the McGowan Center
at Marywood University. It currently has
eight therapy rooms and two diagnostic
rooms, which all have audio-visual
monitoring capabilities for parents,
caregivers, and clinical supervisors.
Referral and Evaluation
Parents, professionals from other agencies,
physicians, teachers, or psychologists may
contact the clinic to refer an individual for an
evaluation of speech, language, and/or hearing
abilities. Initial contact will be made with the
clinic director, who will speak with the referral
source, obtain the client’s identifying
information, and schedule an initial evaluation,
if necessary. If services are warranted following
the evaluation, a therapy schedule will be
established.
Community Services
In keeping with the Marywood University
tradition, the Speech-Language-Hearing
Clinic participates in several communitybased services, including:
• Head Start Speech, Language, and
Hearing Screenings
• Day Care Center Speech, Language, and
Hearing Screenings
• Community Health Fairs
• Occupational Health and Safety Fairs
Speech and Language Services
Services provided at the clinic
include evaluations and treatment
for both children and adults in the
areas of:
• Accent Modification
• Aphasia
• Apraxia/Dyspraxia
• Articulation
• Cognition
• Dysarthria
• Fluency
• Hearing Impairments
• Language
• Phonology
• Voice
Our clinic provides both individual and
group therapy sessions for speech, language,
and related disorders. Other services include a
child articulation/language play group and an
adult aphasia language group. All services
related to speech and language are provided
by undergraduate seniors and graduate
student clinicians who work in conjunction
with PA licensed and ASHA certified speechlanguage pathologists, who serve as clinical
supervisors.
Audiology Services
Our PA licensed and ASHA certified
audiologists schedule and complete basic
diagnostic and central auditory processing
evaluations within our on-campus audiological
suite. Hearing aid consultations, fittings, and
maintenance are also services that the clinic
provides. Currently, assistive listening devices
are available to lend to individuals in the
community.The equipment can be used on a
trial basis with the option to purchase. Clinical
staff or supervised students will demonstrate
and explain all assistive listening devices to fit
the needs of the individual.

Clinic Fees
Modest fees are charged for diagnostic
evaluations as well as individual and group
sessions.The fee for the diagnostic evaluation is
paid at the time of service, and therapy services
are billed on a monthly basis.The clinic has
contracts with several third-party payers.
Contact should be made with the clinic
director to determine if coverage is available.
