There are three ideas that appear in mathematics discussions often: Infinitely large,
infinitely small, and infinitely close to or approximately a number. In this writing activity
you will explain the way you understand these concepts. You shouldn’t consult any
textbook. I just want to know how you think about these concepts. Your writing should
be at most two pages (font size 12, 1.5 space). In your writing I want you to specifically
address:
a. How do you interpret the expression “Infinitely large”?
b. How do you interpret the expression “Infinitely small”?
c. How do you interpret the expression “0.9999… is approximately 1”?
d. What is infinity for you? Is it a number?
To help you organize your thoughts, these are some examples when these terms are used.
Make sure you are in agreement with the way they are used before you attempt to write
about them.

continue the pattern of formation) “get infinitely large” or “the numbers go to
infinity”
