The biennial event first started in 1993 and seven IPEC conferences have been held to date. All the previous seven IPECs were very successful, with some 200 delegates from 23 to 25 countries participating on each occasion. The forthcoming 8th IPEC is co-organized by Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Power Ltd, Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), the IET Singapore Branch and the IEEE Power Chapter Singapore. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems (IJEEPS). All accepted papers shall be included in IEEE Xplore database and indexed by the Engineering Index (EI). The identified theme of IPEC2007 is “Sustainable Development of Electric Power Systems: Challenges and Opportunities”. IPEC2007 welcomes technical contributions in all areas of power engineering and power electronics, with special emphasis on the theme of the conference. The topics of interest are broadly categorized into, but not limited to, the following: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Electricity market liberalization and economics Power system planning System reliability, security and risk assessment Network dynamics, analysis and control Modeling of power system components Blackouts: Prevention, Analysis, Restoration Renewable energy and distributed generation Energy storage Power electronics and applications Electrical machines and drives Protection Power quality Transmission: HVDC and FACTS Asset management: condition monitoring, knowledge extraction, failure analysis High voltage engineering Power system operations Distribution system and substation automation AI applications Emerging Trends: Integrated substation, active network Power system communication/IT solutions: wireless works management system Visualization of network information: intelligent meters Security measures to safeguard installations Power engineering education International Advisory Committee Australia Canada China France Germany Hong Kong (SAR) India Indonesia Italy Japan Korea Malaysia New Zealand Norway Portugal Singapore Switzerland United Kingdom USA G Ledwich R Billinton ME El-Hawary OP Malik BT Ooi TS Sidhu YZ Sun FS Wen YS Xue XX Zhou D Georges R Ortega H Koch KP Wong M Ramamoorty SC Srivastava D Thukaram Y Haroen GC Montanari CA Nucci T Hiyama H Sasaki A Yokoyama FS Kang H bin Ahmad N Watson OB Fosso V Miranda SC Soh G Andersson HB Puttgen LL Lai YH Song G Strbac A Edris JD McDonald V Vittal BF Wollenberg For further information, please contact: IPEC2007 Secretariat c/o Integrated Meetings Specialist Block 998 Toa Payoh North #07-18 Singapore 318993 Tel: (65) 6356 4727 Fax: (65) 6356 7471 Email: info@ipec.sg For general inquiries, please contact L Goel at elkgoel@ntu.edu.sgT Submission Procedure Authors are invited to submit full-length papers in one or more of the areas identified above.
