UNIVERSITY OF JORDAN


The University of Jordan is the mother of all
universities in Jordan established in 1962.
Enables its students to choose from a wide range
of programs- more than 3500 different courses
are offered by 18 faculties.
The University of Jordan has always encouraged
its students through providing them with
knowledge, qualifications, and skills under the
supervision of its elite faculty members to supply
the local and regional communities with highlyqualified members who would hold notable
positions in the society.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

The first postgraduate program was established
in 1968 upon the issuance of the Royal Decree
regarding establishing a scientific edifice whose
mission was to prepare high-level academic
qualifications. Hence, the main task set for the
Faculty of Graduate Studies was to organize the
affairs of postgraduate studies on the University
level, including all humanities, scientific, and
medical specializations.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

Since its establishment, the Faculty of Graduate
Studies has always managed to supply the local,
regional and international markets with modern
scientific programs on the levels of master’s,
doctoral, and high specialization in the fields of
medicine and dentistry.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

The Faculty has always worked on setting the
quality of scientific research, theses, and
dissertations in accordance with universal
standards. The Faculty offers more than (122)
master’s programs, (37) doctoral programs, (16)
high specialization in medicine certificate
programs, and one high specialization in
dentistry certificate program.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES
Moreover, the University of Jordan has an
agreement with Cologne University in Germany
offering a Master’s program in Integrated Water
Resources Management.
 In addition, the DAAD (German Academic
Exchange Service) has been giving scholarships
for Jordanian to complete their higher education
at the University of Jordan for the past few
years. Last year the DAAD added Syrian and
Palestinian students to offer them a scholarship
for the first time.

FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

These two programs have opened doors and have
given international and local students an
opportunity to pursue their goals. I hope the
other members at Erasmus Plus consider offering
additional scholarships and programs that will
promote learning and encourages students the
same way the DAAD & University of Cologne did.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

The Faculty has succeeded to attract
distinguished students and supply the local,
regional and universal markets with high quality
experiences. The total number of the Faculty
graduates has approximately reached (21841)
male and female master's students, and (2876)
PhD students, these numbers include local,
regional and international students from (46)
countries around the world, most of whom were
hired at well-known institutions which believed
in the high qualifications and potentials they
have.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES
In our faculty, we have an International
registrar’s office which is dedicated to
international students, wishing to pursue their
master’s and/or PhD’s.
 The registrar’s office is responsible for receiving
applications & submitting them to the various
faculties. The students are then notified by the
registrar’s office as to which faculties they got
accepted into depending on their credentials, or
whether haven’t been accepted.

FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES
Up until last year, this process was all done
manually; the faculty of Graduate Studies
recently developed an in-house electronic solution
to ease, speed up and automate the registration
and acceptance program.
 However, the system we developed was not
perfect some of the obstacles we are facing are
the fact that the system does not accept any
major credit cards to make payment. The only
way is to wire transfer or pay cash up-front.

FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES


Other obstacles that international students face
is the need to get their certificates
authentications through their embassy of their
country of origin and the Jordanian government
institutions, as the students need be have all
original papers when they register.
In my opinion these are not only obstacles but
also cause an inconvenience for potential
students, not to mention the long duration of
time it takes to collect required paperwork.
FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

We hope that some other educational institutions
provide financial and/or educational scholarships
to improve the quality of our services to our
graduate students.
