High magnification inputs for VSC systems
Further enhance the capabilities of VSC systems through the addition of
a high specification external microscope
By combining the document examination capabilities of a VSC system with one of our selected
microscopes, users can achieve the ideal interaction of multi-spectral imaging and advanced image
processing with crystal clear imaging of fine details at high levels of magnification.
A selection of microscope options including high specification stereomicroscopes, manufactured by
Leica Microsystems and Nikon, as well as the Foster+Freeman DVM digital video microscope, provides
VSC users with a range of magnification options to suit both budget and application requirements.
Each of the available microscopes can be connected to a VSC system via a high resolution
digital camera attachment with live images can be subjected to the full range of VSC image
enhancement and comparison processes.

DVM
Digital microscope with white and UV LED
illumination for the examination of microtaggants
Designed for the examination of minute security taggants, which
have applications in document examination, anti-counterfeiting,
brand protection, and the conservation of historic artifacts,
the Foster + Freeman DVM is a high specification instrument
constructed to meet the requirements of QDE laboratories.
Comprising a high specification microscope, 14 Bit CCD colour
Firewire camera, two high intensity LED light sources (White and
UV), darkfield ringlight and a transmitted white light XY stage, the
DVM can be fully integrated with a VSC system or used as a PC
driven stand alone instrument complete with dedicated software
package.

Taggants in High Security Documents
Microscopic security taggants can be found in cigarrette, alcohol and
pharmacuetical packaging, and are being increasingly used on security
documents such as passports, visas, identity cards and driving licences.
The ability to identify and examine these microscopic markers of
authenticity is fast becoming an essential requirement for all document
examination systems.

M80
Engineered by Leica for quality assurance and precision industrial
applications, the design of the M80 microscope includes many
aspects that are an ideal match for the requirements of questioned
document examination.
The large working distance and parfocally matched optical system
allow the examiner to observe large areas of a document while
retaining a high-contrast image with no loss of clarity or sharpness.
Another key feature of the M80 is the ability to easily replicate
examination settings using defined magnification levels and
switchable, locking zoom levels.

S6 D
Part of the Leica StereoZoom line, the S6 D is a compact, high
quality microscope with proven performance across multiple
applications.
Integral to the design of the S6 D is the requirement to provide a
high quality digital image to an attached camera. The beam path
switches between visual and documentation with no loss of
illumination, improving image repetition rates and giving excellent
image results from the VSC camera attachment.

SMZ25
The world’s first 25:1 zoom range stereomicroscope, incorporating
motorised focus and zoom, with an intelligent nosepiece.
The systems objective turret has been designed to accomodate two
SHR (Super High Resolution) objectives and offers a simple on-axis
viewing mode for digital imaging providing extremely high
resolution at all levels of magnification.
Key to the effectiveness of the SMZ25 is the user-friendly control
sytem, which allows all microscope functions, including motorized
zoom and focus controls, to be carried out via a remote controller
with LCD display.

SMZ18
A manual 18:1 zoom range research stereomicroscope that
combines macro and micro imaging in a single instrument.
The system utilises the SHR (Super High Resolution) objective for
outstanding resolution of the smallest details, providing a
convenient and affordable package for document examiners.
The SMZ18 offers easy to replicate examination settings using
defined magnification levels on the zoom control. Lighting is
provided by individually selectable LED gooseneck light guides.

SMZ 745T
Featuring 7.5X zoom magnification and a long working distance,
the SMZ 745T is a practical and economical microscope option.
Using the optical path selection lever to quickly and simply switch
between 100% eyepieces and 100% camera, bright high contrast

One further advantage for document examiners is the optional
inclusion of a heavyweight long-reach table stand pictured
