Mr. Marchesini works at Holy Cross High School as a Physical Education Instructor and coaches Junior Varsity Basketball. Prior to coaching at Holy Cross, Mr. Marchesini was the head Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at St. Francis Prep for 20 years. He has worked at the Holy Cross Basketball camp since its inception in the summer of 1986. Coach Tarpey is from St. Mel’s Parish and a Holy Cross Alumni from class of ‘83. After graduating from Holy Cross, he played at NYU and is their all-time leading scorer. After college, he played professionally in France for 10 years. Coach Tarpey just completed his second year as Varsity Coach at Holy Cross and has worked at the Holy Cross Basketball Camp since its inception in 1986. Lunch: Lunch is for sale each day in our cafeteria. Campers may bring their own lunch if they choose. Facilities: Campers have access to the William J. O’Meara Memorial Gymnasium, outdoor courts, locker room, weight room and camp store. Awards: All parents are invited to attend camp on the last day of each session for the Parents’ Free Throw Contest, camp playoffs and awards ceremony to conclude the week. Evaluation: All campers receive a personalized skills evaluation from their coach at the end of the week. Payment: A non-refundable deposit of $225.00 must be sent with this application. CAMP PHILOSOPHY The goal of the Holy Cross Basketball Camp is to develop a complete basketball player. This is achieved by teaching proper fundaments of the game in a positive, encouraging environment. Sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence and individual drive are the keys to enjoying success both on and off the basketball court. These qualities will be emphasized in safe, supervised and enjoyable surroundings at Holy Cross. Campers will be evaluated by our coaches and placed in groups based upon age and ability to ensure fair competition for all. All campers are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the camp. Courtesy, honesty, and respect for fellow campers are essential and expected qualities of all those who attend Holy Cross Basketball Camp.
