Elementary SEI 2016 SEI Course Descriptions (In Alphabetical Order) • Beyblades Physics: Focus: Physics Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd Teacher: Fox Students will have fun learning about strategy, defense, stamina, balance and beginning physics concepts as they participate in friendly Beyblade tournaments! • Blood and Guts: Focus: Science Designed for Grade Levels: TK-3rd Teacher: Fox Students will be engaged in exploration of 6 body systems, how they work, and how they are interdependent. We’ll use microscopes, do hands-on experiments and more. There will be a final experiment during the last class! • California’s National Parks: Focus: Science and History Designed for Grade Levels: 3rd-5th Teacher: Vierra th In honor of the 100 Anniversary of the United States’ National Park Service, this class will look at three of the unique National Parks here in our home state of California; Yosemite, Joshua Tree and Channel Islands National Park. We will learn and discover about their history, physical geography, climate/weather, and ecosystems. We will move into the importance of these parks, and the many other ones in our state and country, and look at how the WPA designed famous posters to entice people to visit. Each one offers a unique look at California wilderness (forest and mountains, high and low deserts, coastal and oceanic). Students will be inspired to want to visit these parks, seek out parks near them, and work to help protect and respect our natural spaces. • Computer Literacy and Coding: Focus: Technology Designed for Grade Levels: 2nd-5th Teacher: Hearn/DePaola With technology advancing at a very rapid pace, this course will not only allow students to increase their technology abilities in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and typing, but also in web skills and coding. Students will learn how to use, create, and save a word document and a PowerPoint presentation. This course will also utilize typing software and fun activities for students to learn the “home row” on the keyboard to enhance their typing/keyboarding ability. Students will increase their web skills by learning how to research, navigate, and bookmark scholarly websites and articles. It will also increase student’s ability to become beginners at computer programming. • Dance the Hula: Focus: Physical Fitness Designed for Grade Levels: 1st-4th Teacher: Valenzuela Covering the forms of Tahitian, Hawaiian and Samoan dance, our Hula classes cover a variety of different techniques and styles used throughout the various islands. Class includes basic step technique, traditional routines as well as the use of implements (such as poi balls). • Discover the Story in You: Focus: Literacy Development Designed for Grade Levels: 3rd-5th Teacher: Belisle This class is designed to make reading aloud fun. Using student created and author specific writing pieces, students will learn to feel confident when reading in front of a class or audience. Students will learn the mechanics of proper annunciation, diction, volume, and emphasis. • Exploring Electricity and Magnetism: Focus: Physical Science Designed for Grade Levels: 3rd-5th Teacher: Thomas This is a very hands-on class for students who enjoy experimental learning in science. Students will learn basic circuitry, experiment with magnets and even create their own electromagnet. • Fashion Design Sewing: Focus: Creative Art Designed for Grade Levels: 2nd-5th Teacher: Wright Students in this class will learn the lifelong skill of sewing. They will be introduced to hand sewing techniques as well as learning how to use a sewing machine. Students will design and sew a pillowcase, tote bag, pajama pants, and more. **Students will need to provide their own fabric for this class (or purchase from the instructor for $40 Materials Fee).** SEI Course Descriptions Continued Elementary SEI 2016 (In Alphabetical Order) • Fun with Fins, Flukes, and Flippers: Focus: Science /Art Designed for Grade Levels: TK-1st Teacher: Maas Young students will explore marine life through literature and art experiences. Students will have a hands-on adventure in the undersea world. • Fun with Food: Focus: Culinary Arts Designed for Grade Levels: 2nd-5th Teacher: S. Moore Students will create culinary masterpieces in this hands-on cooking class. Students will be growing, cooking, and tasting different foods! Cooking is amazingly appealing to their tactile senses; pouring, stirring and touching can teach cooperation and a sense of pride in their creations. We hope that our students will develop life-long appreciation for nutritious food and good eating habits. Kids will find fruits and vegetable yummy at the end of this exciting class! • Fun with Yoga: Focus: Fitness Designed for Grade Levels: 2nd-5th Teacher: Nyssen This class will combine yoga and moving our bodies with animals and nature to connect us more with earth as well as with ourselves. As we move through our yoga practice, we will create yoga handbooks and relate our yoga poses to things in nature such as animals and plants. While doing this, we will gain confidence in our own bodies and how to make them strong and flexible. We will use movement, art, knowledge of animals and nature to learn to better take care of and respect ourselves as well as Mother Earth. • ¡Hablemos Español! Focus: Foreign Language Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd & 3rd-5th Teacher: Maldonado/Braithwaite Students will be exposed to a Spanish language program that engages children to learn through creative activities. Instructional focus is on acquisition of vocabulary and practical conversation through multiple learning strategies to stimulate every learning style. A fun filled approach allows children to learn a new language and with a high level of retention. This class is designed for students to take one or both modules to increase language exposure. • I’m an Artist! Focus: Visual Art Designed for Grade Levels: 1st-3rd Teacher: Rollins Young students will have the opportunity to be creative and explore multiple techniques for art expressions. This class will be lively and fun and encourage students to think out of the box, create from their imagination and tell a story through art. Students will work on art pieces every day and will bring all projects home at the end of the session. • It’s Summer … Let off Some STEAM: Focus: STEAM Designed for Grade Levels: 1st-2nd & 3rd-5th Teacher: Chambers Come play in Lee’s Makerspace! Work through the engineering process as you collaborate with others to build Hex Bug mazes, construct towers, code with Ozobots, and more! This is a hands-on class designed to encourage problem solving, team work communication, and perseverance. • Jiu Jitsu: Focus: Physical Fitness Designed for Grade Levels: K-2nd Teacher: Wetzel This class will focus on bully prevention and self-defense while helping students gain confidence in their physical abilities using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. • Kenpo Karate for Kids: Focus: Physical Fitness Designed for Grade Levels: K-5th Teacher: Solow Students will learn basic karate techniques while improving their strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Students will learn self-discipline and to respect others, which naturally leads to improved self-esteem and self-confidence. These benefits carry over into other areas of life, helping to improve behavior and academic performance. • Mixed Media 2D Design: Focus: Fine Arts Designed for Grade Levels: TK-3rd Teacher: Rollins Students will be introduced to a range of drawing materials and techniques. The class will include several projects to clearly emphasize 2D design principles for young artists. Artists will understand how to create abstract and representational compositions. By exploring a variety of two-dimensional mediums, the students will grasp concepts such as line, shape, color, pattern, symmetry, balance, representation, abstraction and everything in between. Students will be engaged in drawing techniques using pencil, charcoal and colored pencil on paper; as well as printmaking and painting techniques on different surfaces. Young artists with a wide range of interests will benefit significantly from this class! Elementary SEI 2016 SEI Course Descriptions Continued (In Alphabetical Order) • Musical Theater: Focus: Performing Arts Designed for Grade Levels: 2nd-5th Teacher: Schmietenknop This class will expose students to the art of acting, singing, dancing, and performing. The workshop will help students explore all the elements of the theater in a fun and exciting way. Throughout the course students will be memorizing parts and learning songs and dances to go with the scenes. They will also learn how to be a confident public speaker. Each session will end in a live performance. • Robot Beginnings: Focus: Science Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd Teacher: Fox Students will explore the mechanics of early robots —using small motors, batteries, small solar panels, etc. This is a forerunner to the programmable types we see today. No computers needed. • Scene Study/Improv: Focus: Performing Arts Designed for Grade Levels: 3rd-5th Teacher: Tate Theatre Arts is for the student who will enjoy learning acting techniques, character development and improvisation. This class will culminate in a short play or scene presentation. • Spanish Immersion through Art: Focus: Foreign Language Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd Teacher: Maldonado Immerse your child in the Spanish language. Instructional focus is on building Spanish vocabulary and conversational dialogue. We’ll be catapulted into speaking Español with classmates, parents, and teachers. • Sports Wheel: Focus: Physical Fitness Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd Teacher: Kizziar Students will be enthralled with many different sports! Sports Wheel will include Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball/Softball, and Water Activities because it’s summer! Indoor Activities will take place if it’s way too hot! This class is meant to create awareness and spark excitement for beginning athletes. Emphasis will be placed on physical activity in everyday life, teamwork, dealing with adversity, problem solving and sportsmanship. • Summer Art: Focus: Fine Arts Designed for Grade Levels: K-2nd Teacher: Rollins Students will create artwork with various 2D and 3D materials. During the class, the young artists will be introduced to a range of professional and quality materials. Students will learn observational skills and work from their own imagination. • Voice and Movement: Focus: Music & Voice Designed for Grade Levels: TK-2nd Teacher: Henning Students in this upbeat class will learn vocal technique, basic music theory as well as how to perform a song. Using both classic and contemporary songs as a guide, students will enjoy learning how to portray character and emotion, giving each song meaning. We will incorporate free-form dance to loosen up the body and strengthen the diaphragm. This is the perfect class for the child that loves to sing. • Wonders of the World: Focus: Writing, Reading, Geography, History, Engineering Grade Levels: 1st-3rd Teacher: Gaw Are you looking for a fun way to keep your student reading and writing over the summer? Does your child love learning about History and far off places? This is the perfect course for you. Students will learn about: Ancient Egypt – The Great Pyramids, The Sphinx, and King Tutankhamen. Ancient China – The Great Wall of China and Pandas too! Italy – The Coliseum, Pompeii, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa Australia – Ayres Rock and Australian Marsupials France – Eiffel Tower The teacher will share her personal travel stories, photographs, read aloud books, and share a large collection of nonfiction books for additional research. In addition, students will engage in art, building, research, and be filled with wonder about the world. Elementary SEI 2016 Meet Our Highly-Qualified Instructional SEI Staff: • Lesli Ayers (Jumpstart 2nd)- Lesli is happy to be back for her 5th year teaching SEI for LAEF! She has taught elementary education for the past 30 years between Los Alamitos Unified, Long Beach Unified and the city of Anaheim. She is a graduate from Long Beach State and a proud resident of Los Alamitos. She considers Los Alamitos Unified her home due to her college daughter, who is a recent graduate from Los Alamitos High School. Lesli looks forward to helping students reach their full academic potential through academics and the arts. • Stefana Barcelo (Jumpstart 4th and Jumpstart K: Math)- Stefana received her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSULB. She has been working for Los Alamitos Unified since 2013 and was an intervention teacher at Hopkinson from October of 2014 until last Summer when she was hired on at McGaugh Elementary to teach 4th grade. She is very excited to teach for LAEF again this summer for the 2nd consecutive year! • Jim Belisle (Jumpsart 5th and Discover the Story in You)- Jim has been a credentialed educator in both private and public schools for over eleven years. He had been a third grade teacher in the early years of his tenure honing his classroom management skills by taking numerous professional development classes including classes offered by classroom management specialist Rick Morris. In May of 2013 he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from CSULB. Currently he is a sixth grade language arts and history teacher at St. Hedwig Elementary School. This is his fifth year with SEI. • Krystin Braithwaite (¡Hablemos Español!)- Krystin is a Spanish teacher at Los Alamitos High School. Prior to coming to the district, Krystin graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Long Beach, earning a degree in Spanish after studying abroad in Spain. She taught at Lutheran High School of Orange County immediately following the completion of her teaching credential. Currently, Krystin coaches track and actively participates in professional development, working with local teachers on how to better their own instructional practices. She is looking forward to working with LAEF and all of the students in their journey in acquiring another language. • Melissa Chambers (It’s Summer…Let off Some STEAM!)- This school year will be her 17th year teaching! She has experience as a classroom teacher in grades 1, 4, and 5, but has spent the last 8 years as Lee Elementary's part-time Media Center and Computer Lab teacher. She absolutely loves working with her students and supporting the classroom teachers by instructing Lee students in keyboarding, Internet safety, research, word processing, computer programming, and multimedia skills. This year she had the amazing opportunity to help bring the Makerspace to Lee! She has taught the LAEF STEAM Fair workshop class at Lee for the past two years and has helped coordinate the site STEAM showcase. • Sarah DePaola (Computer Literacy and Coding)- Sarah attended Cal State Fullerton where she gained a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subject Credential, and a Master’s in Education. She was a substitute teacher for the La Habra School District for 5 prior to landing her full-time teaching position this year at Pomona Unified teaching a 4th and 5th grade combo class. She missed last year’s SEI due to having her son but she is looking forward to coming back this Summer to teach technology. This will be her fifth year teaching SEI and each year she gets more and more excited. • Melodie Fox (Beyblades Physics, Robot Beginnings & Blood and Guts)- Melodie graduated from Hope International University in Fullerton with a B.A. in Human Development and has taught in several private elementary schools throughout southern California for over twenty years. Developing her own curriculum and spear-heading an innovative after school program on the east coast, she moved back in CA to pursue her love of hands-on teaching in the classroom. She is currently a projects coordinator at Oakwood Academy in Long Beach. Jennifer Gaw (Wonders of the World)- She has been teaching at McGaugh Elementary for over twenty years. • She has taught mostly 1, 2, and 5th grades. She has enjoyed teaching dance to fifth graders in the “Pageant of the Arts” and she also loves working with students of all abilities. She is a mom of a fourth grader. Her family loves camping and taking adventures locally & to many of California’s National Parks. In her early years she traveled the world! Currently she loves sharing her travel adventures and pictures to her current students. • Wendy Hearn (Computer Literacy and Coding)- Wendy is in her twenty-first year of teaching and in that time she has taught all . grades; three through eight. She currently teaches sixth grade reading, language arts and history at McAuliffe Middle School and loves it! Wendy and her husband have two sons (fourth and eighth grades) and live locally. Elementary SEI 2016 Meet More Highly-Qualified Instructional SEI Staff: • Sonya Henning (Voice and Movement)- Sonya Henning has been teaching voice, musical theater, and dance for the past ten years. She holds a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton in Theatre Arts and continues to perform herself in both theatre and television. Ms. Henning owns and operates an academy for arts in Long Beach, Emerging Artists Musical Theatre Academy, where the mission is to give every child the opportunity to experience a performing arts education. • Eric Kizziar (Sports Wheel)- Eric graduated from Los Alamitos High School in 2014 with honors and lettered in cross country, wrestling, and track. Currently he is pursuing his Bachelor's degree and majoring in Criminal Justice at California State University Fullerton. Along with being a full time student, he is an assistant coach at LAHS for all three sports. Eric is eager to teach for LAEF again this summer! • MarJean Kruger-Silva (Jumpstart K: Math)- MarJean has been teaching primary grade elementary school for 9 years in CoronaNorco USD and has a love for helping this age group build a foundation for a lifetime of learning. She has a multiple subject teaching credential, special education credential and Masters of Arts. She is looking forward to her 3rd year teaching Summer Enrichment Institute classes and helping new kindergarteners practice mathematical skills. • Majella Maas (Fun with Fin, Flukes and Flippers)- Throughout her thirty years in the public school primary classroom, Majella’s favorite subjects were always art and science. An avid gardener, enthusiastic reader, and adventurous traveler, Mrs. Maas has written for both school and parent market publications. Most recently, she has written English language learning stories for an overseas company. Mrs. Maas looks forward her 5th year of teaching Fun with Fins, Flukes, and Flippers. She has taught Spanish to children for over 20 years. She taught her first season with LAEF in the spring of 2015 and she is excited to teach her 2nd Summer of SEI. • Rachel Metcalfe (Jumpstart K: Phonics)- Rachel graduated from Hope International University with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subject Credential, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Rachel is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Hopkinson Elementary. Before Rachel was hired to Hopkinson this school year full-time, she was a Reading Intervention Teacher for Los Alamitos Unified School District. She also taught Math after school intervention. Prior to teaching in Los Alamitos, she taught at a private school in Norwalk and worked as a long term substitute teacher in Garden Grove Unified School District. Mrs. Metcalfe is looking forward to meeting your children and is excited to be a part of the LAEF program for the 2nd consecutive year! • Chelsea Moore (Jumpstart 3rd)- Chelsea just finished her second year of teaching 4th grade at Hopkinson Elementary. The year prior, she worked in Hopkinson's Reading Lab and After-School Intervention for math and writing. She taught 3rd grade Summer School for Los Alamitos in 2014. Chelsea is very excited to be joining LAEF this summer! • Sharon Moore (Fun with Food)- Sharon is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) who holds a MS in Nutritional Science from CSULB. She is a Master Gardener as well as a parent in Los Alamitos USD. She has vast experience educating others on the importance of food and nutrition. This is Sharon’s 2nd consecutive year teaching SEI! • Nerissa Nyssen (Fun with Yoga)- Nerissa has always loved teaching and working with kids of all ages. She is a surf instructor where she works with kids helping them feel comfortable in the ocean and teaching them to have fun and surf in our local beaches. She is a certified yoga instructor and teaches kids as well as people of all ages the wonders of what yoga can do for your body and mind. She studied fashion design at CSULB and has always loved art as a tool of communication. She loves to teach, inspire, and create, in every aspect of life. • Michael Rollins (I’m an Artist!, Summer Art, and Mixed Media 2D Design)- Michael is a • April Schmeitenknop (Jumpstart 1st and Musical Theater)- April has 15 years of experience teaching first grade. She is a professional artist and instructor. He received his MFA from California State University, Long Beach, where he now teaches painting. Before moving to California, Michael’s time was spent at his home in Arizona and studying in Colorado. Both places provided Michael with encouraging environments in very large scale and works in a variety of mediums. Michael is currently teaching for LAEF as After-School Instructor! current teacher at Lee Elementary. She has taught summer school for 11 years. She graduated from Concordia University. She has been trained in CGI, Writer’s Workshop, and Reader’s Workshop. She has 20 years of experience writing and directing plays. • Andrea Solow (Kenpo Karate)- Andrea Pfefer Solow has been a student of Kenpo Karate for over 30 years and is currently a 5th Degree Black Belt. She has been the International champion six times and has won more than 150 1st place trophies in her tournament career. She has instructed several hundred people over the years, having many advanced students, and bringing several people to the rank of black belt. She recently moved back to her home state, California, with her husband and two children who attend school at Weaver. Ms. Solow is passionate about teaching kids and is excited to be an instructor for the LAEF program! This is her 3rd consecutive Summer teaching SEI! Elementary SEI 2016 Meet More Highly-Qualified Instructional SEI Staff: • Wendy Tate (iPad Video Production)- Wendy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts from UCLA, her Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University and her Certificate in Screenwriting from University of California, Irvine. She has earned four Emmy Awards in a seven year span from 2001 to 2008. Wendy currently is the Program Coordinator of Video Production at LAVA Productions. Her passion is making documentaries and she is excited to teach for LAEF again this summer! • Brent Thomas (Jumpstart 3rd and Exploring Electricity and Magnetism)- Brent currently teaches fifth grade at Hopkinson Elementary School. Before he was hired as a teacher at Hopkinson, he taught intervention classes for the Los Alamitos Unified School District. He is excited to teach his 5th year of classes with the Summer Enrichment Institute! • Robin Tojo (Jumpstart 4th)- Robin is really looking forward to having the opportunity to teach a Summer Enrichment class through LAEF! She graduated from CSULB in 2006 with a double major in International Studies and Italian Studies. With her goals set towards international education, she journeyed abroad, working in international preschools in Italy, Finland and Japan. She received her teaching credential at CSULB last Spring. She is a Reading Intervention teacher at McGaugh. As a teacher (and a mother of a three year old), she wants to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all of her students to learn in. Ms. Tojo is looking forward to meeting your children and is excited to be a part of the LAEF program. • Leoby Valenzuela (Dance the Hula)- Leoby Valenzuela has been dancing since the age of five. She has studied several types of dance including jazz, ballet, belly dance and lyrical. At the age of nine, she discovered Hula and Polynesian dance and has since become very passionate about it. Leoby has been teaching Hula and Polynesian for two years at a dance studio and is eager to spread the art of dance through LAEF this Summer! • Trent Vierra (California National Parks)- Trent received his teaching credential last Spring from California State University, Long Beach and has spent his first year teaching in various settings here in Los Alamitos Unified School District. He started out being a reading intervention teacher for K-3 students at McGaugh Elementary School and then transitioned into taking over a fourth grade class as a long-term substitute teacher. Prior to his experience working in Los Al, he was a substitute teacher for over two years in Long Beach Unified School District. He has a strong bond with nature and it remains one of his favorite things to teach about. Trent is excited to teach for LAEF this Summer! • Jerry Wetzel (Jiu Jitsu)- Jerry Wetzel is founder of Red Zone Threat Management and travels nationally and internationally teaching seminars to members of the DEA, Local Law Enforcement, and civilians on the topic of personal protection. He is the author of the book “Red Zone Prime: A Foundation for Personal Protection”. In addition, he is a passionate instructor of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts which he teaches at the facility he has owned and operated for the last 14 years, Centerline Martial Arts and Fitness. He has one child who is a Weaver student and one at Oak. Jerry firmly believes that every child has the right to enjoy their school days without fear of being bullied and is committed to helping them develop the necessary tools and attitude to help them on their journey. Jerry currently teaches for LAEF’s After-School program. This is Jerry’s first Summer teaching SEI and he is extremely excited! • Camilla Wright (Fashion Design Sewing)- Camilla is a Fashion Designer. She has worked in the Fashion Industry both in New York City and Los Angeles for over 11 years. In 2008, she started her own Fashion line that has been featured on the runway in Los Angeles during Fashion Week and in industry newspapers. Her design studio is located in Los Alamitos where she now teaches an after-school sewing program called Sewing Lab. Camilla lives in Los Alamitos with her husband and 3 children who attend schools in Los Alamitos. Elementary SEI 2015 2016 Additional Information about SEI: Session One: June 27- July 8 (No Classes: 7/4) Session Two: July 11- July 22 Both sessions of Elementary SEI Classes will be at Lee Elementary School located at: 11481 Foster Road, Rossmoor, CA 90720 Registration: All registration will be completed on-line. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis. A minimum enrollment of 8 students is required to be able to run classes. Please visit www.LAEF4kids.org/programs to register for SEI classes. * Early Bird Registration: 3/21-5/24 (Don’t miss out on the best deal!) *Regular registration: Session 1; 5/25-6/21 and Session 2; 5/25-7/5 *Late In-Person registration: Session 1- June 27th and Session 2- July 11th (Onsite at Lee Elementary only). **Please note there will be a $25 late fee per class.** Register early! SEI class sizes are limited to 17 students per class. Things to note for SEI on the Lee Campus (K-5th): During SEI, the LAEF office will be located at Lee and will be open from 7:45am-5:00pm. If parents need to pick up a student prior to the ending time of a class, they must first stop by the LAEF office to sign their child out. Recess Break: There are two recess breaks from 9:50-10:10 a.m. and from 2:35-2:50 p.m. This time is the designated recess for students to enjoy a snack purchased from LAEF or brought from home, as well as spend some time with friends on the playground. Pre-Purchased Snack: Recess snack combos can be purchased when registering for SEI classes online. The snack combos are $2 per day. Students will get to choose one snack and drink each day from a variety of options. The pre-pay option is great so that students do not need to bring money to LAEF’s SEI. • First session snack combo: $18 for SEI • Second session snack combo: $20 for SEI Lunch Break: Students who take a 10:00am-11:50am class and sign-up for afternoon classes beginning at 12:45 will receive a FREE supervised lunch and recess from 12:00pm-12:45pm. **Please pack a sack lunch for your child. Lunch will NOT be provided.** Elementary SEI 2016 Additional Information (Continued) Transportation: LAEF provides bussing at 12:00pm to Los Alamitos Elementary for Los Al USD’s Camp Fun in the Sun and Child Development Center’s summer program Summer School. LAEF also provides bussing from LAE to LAEF at Lee Elementary for afternoon SEI classes. Transportation costs $10 per session and will only run if 10 or more students are signed up. To access this option for your child, please select transportation when registering for SEI classes at www.LAEF4kids.org/programs. Late Pick Up: Children must be picked up from SEI at the posted ending time for his/her course or the parent/guardian will be charged $15 for each 15 minute increment beginning at 5 minutes after the class ends. Behavior Expectations: It is the goal of the Los Alamitos Education Foundation (LAEF) to provide a positive, safe, and secure learning environment for all students. To ensure that all students have equal access to success and a sense of well-being during LAEF programs, we expect that students behave appropriately. Participating in SEI is a privilege and if a student has to be removed from a classroom or field activity on more than one occasion, the course fee will be forfeited and the child will no longer be able to participate in 2016 SEI courses and LAEF’s Summer Camp. Refund Policy: Tuition is non-refundable unless LAEF cancels the class due to the minimum enrollment not being met. If your child misses classes or withdraws before the end of the session, you are still responsible for the full fees of the session.
