2014 Luke Days Open House Air Show Driving Directions
During the 2014 Luke Days Open House the 56th Security Forces Squadron and Glendale Police
Department would like to minimize traffic congestion and provide spectators and Luke personnel
quick access to the base and parking areas. The following information will help you plan your
travel to the base and guide you to one of three parking areas: Park & Walk (Lot A), Park & Ride
(Lot B), and Handicapped.
Parking Lot A and B will both have a $10 parking fee for cars. People parking in Parking Area
“B” will be shuttled to and from the base, while Parking Area
“A” will be a park and walk lot only.
PARKING LOT “A”
Park your vehicle and walk to the airfield
From I-10, proceed northbound on either Dysart Road or Litchfield Road.
If using Dysart Rd, turn left (west) onto Glendale Ave and proceed to Parking Lot “A”.
If using Litchfield Rd, continue northbound until you are directed to Parking Lot “A”.
From the 101, exit on Glendale Ave.
Proceed west towards Litchfield Road until you are directed to Parking Lot “A”
There is no Handicapped parking in this lot.

PARKING LOT “B”
Park your vehicle and ride a chartered bus to the airfield
Take Loop 101 to Northern Ave or Olive Ave exit;
Proceed westbound on Northern or Olive Avenue;
At Dysart Road (or El Mirage Road) go right (north) to Peoria Ave.
At Peoria go left (west) to Parking Lot “B”.
Visitors from the southeast valley using westbound I-10 are encouraged to take the Loop 101
exit, and proceed northbound following the above instructions.
Visitors from the northwest (SUN CITY / SURPRISE AREA)
Proceed southbound on Litchfield Rd to Peoria Ave.
Turn left (east) on Peoria Ave to Parking Lot “B”

HANDICAP PARKING
Please ensure you have a state issued handicap license plate or placard. No one will be
allowed through the Glendale PD traffic control points or into the handicap parking without
the proper state issued handicap license plate or placard.
Handicap Visitors from the Surprise/Sun City area:
Use southbound Dysart Rd until you reach Northern Ave.
Turn right (west) on Northern Parkway and proceed until you reach Litchfield Rd.
At Litchfield Road officers will verify your plate or placard, you will then

**Northern Parkway users will NOT be allowed turn on Litchfield**

Use northbound Dysart Rd until you reach Northern Ave.
Turn left (west) on Northern Parkway and proceed until you reach Litchfield Rd,

All handicap personnel follow the posted signs to their designated parking areas once on base.
Note: All vehicles entering Luke AFB are subject to search. Failure to consent to search may
result in the denial of entry of that vehicle onto the base.

LUKE PERSONNEL:
Luke personnel will be allowed access to the base prior to 0800 on both days of the open house.
After 0800 the West Side of the base will be closed to vehicle traffic unless you have an air show
pass. The East Side (BX/Commissary/Housing) will be open for normal business. Traffic going
to the East Side must use Kachina Gate and be prepared to show your military ID to the police
officers to be allowed access. All road closures will be in place by 0800.
TRAFFIC AROUND THE BASE:
Glendale Ave will be closed just east of Litchfield Rd. Litchfield Rd will be closed off just south
of Glendale Ave and just south of Lightning Gate. Litchfield Rd will be closed from Luke AFB
to Peoria Ave. Litchfield Rd will be closed from Camelback Rd to Luke AFB, with the
exception of traffic parking in Lot “A,” no thru traffic will be allowed. Northern Ave will be
completely closed between Reems Rd and Dysart Rd. Handicap placard and plate holders can
only access the base from the north at Litchfield Rd and Olive Ave.
OTHER SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS:
All spectators coming to the show will have to pass through a security check point prior to
entering the base. The following items will be allowed to be brought onto the base, but will be
checked: Cameras w/bags, folding chairs (highly recommend being brought due to limited
seating available), diaper bags, or any type of bag containing medical supplies. Coolers,
backpacks, and weapons (if it has a blade it will not be allowed on) are prohibited on the base.
