AIRCONDITIONING SYSTEM
These specifications pertain to all areas and general application of air conditioning.
Air Cooled Ductable Split Units: The Ductable unit shall be ceiling mounted type comprising of an indoor
unit housing evaporator section and blower section in a single cabinet and an outside unit housing
compressors, with condenser coil and fan.The AC should have two refrigent circuits .
Casing: The casing shall be constructed of cold rolled steel, finished in polyester powder coat to provide
resistance against corrosion.
The discharge plenum, air conditioning and refrigeration compartment shall be insulated against heat and
sound transmission.
Bottom Panel: The bottom panels shall be held in place by concealed latches. Upper panel shall give access
to blower and evaporator section. Every part shall be easily accessible for inspection, adjustment and
service.
Compressor: The compressor shall be, scroll type type compressor directly driven by motor. The motor and
compressor assembly shall be sealed in one casing against dirt, moisture and air. The compressor shall be
housed in the outdoor unit along with condenser & cooling fans.
The motors shall be protected from overloads by motor winding thermostat and temperature controlled
thermal element on the compressor. The compressor motor starter shall also be provided with overload
protection and single phasing preventor.
Unit should have microprocessor based control panel.
The compressor shall be mounted vibration isolators. The compressor motor shall be designed to operator on
415 +/- 10% Volts 3- phase, AC supply.
Air Cooled Condenser: The condenser shall be air-cooled type. It shall comprise of condenser coil and
condenser fan, compressor and control panel only. This unit shall be suitable to be kept in the ambient
location. Suitable arrangement shall be provided for the protection of the control panel. The coil shall be with
copper tube and aluminium fins. The condenser shall be complete with axial type condenser fan with TEFC
motor suitable for outside installation. Electrical connection shall be provided upto condensing unit by client.
Evaporator Coil: The cooling coil shall be constructed of solid drawn copper primary tubes and assembled
in steel frame. The tube shall be hydraulically expanded in the aluminum fins to ensure fight fin bond. The
return bonds shall be die-formed and bronzed to the tubes and shall have thicker tube wall than the standard
straight pipes. The tubes shall be of suitable thickness. Complete coil shall be tested with 325 psig nitrogen
pressure.
The drip pan under the entire coil section shall be rust protected, easily cleanable and drain protected by
screen.
Refrigerant flow to the cooling coil shall be controlled by thermostatic expansion valve/ capillary arrangement
and a distributor.
Blower: The blower shall be double inlet forward curved centrifugal fan having capacity to discharge large
volume of air at lower noise level. Fan shall be statically and dynamically balanced for vibration-less
operation. Fan shaft shall be mounted in permanently lubricated ball type rubber isolated bearings.

The fan drive should be preferably directly coupled with motor of required capacity having overload protection
in starter.
Refrigerant piping: The compressor, condenser and the evaporator coil shall be interconnected with copper
refrigerant piping and the valves shall be of brass/gun metal. The refrigerant circuit shall include thermostatic
expansion valve/ capillary arrangement, distributor, dehydrator and liquid line shut off valve. The refrigerant
piping shall be of HARD TYPE of minimum 20G. The refrigerant piping shall be duly supported & clamped on
walls / angle with as per site requirement.
Pendant Type control: The Pendant type microprocessor based control shall be located at a convenient
place in the conditioned area and shall be provided with an RTD sensor to control the room temperature
accurately with +/- Deg. C of the set point and facility to display return air temperature of LED.
The Control system should also provide auto-sequence starting with pre-determined time delay and also auto
sequence stopping. The control system also provided anti- recycle timer for set delay between stopping and
starting.
Unit should have option for remote controlling .
HP/LP cutout & interlocking: The compressor shall be protected with HP-LP cutout with manual reset.
The starting of compressor motor shall be interlocked with blower motor & condenser fan motor.
Filters: HDPE synthetic non-woven washable filter shall be provided for efficient filtration of all air before
entering the evaporator coil. The filter shall have large surface area and dust holding capacity.
Cassette / Hi Wall split ACs :
Hi wall type split AC shall be supplied of approved makes only. The split AC should operate with R 22 gas.
The AC should preferably have following features:

Minimum 3 Star level rating by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency for its power efficiency for the SPLIT
AC only .
•
Anti-rust powder coated outdoor unit which would prevents the outdoor unit from rusting, even under
harsh weather conditions.
•
Should have Higher energy efficient rotary/scroll compressor so as to minimize the power
consumption along with higher cooling efficiency and quiet operation.
•
The unit shall be supplied with cord less LCD remote with large LCD display with basic functions like
Cool/Fan/Dry/Auto mode, Sleep mode & On/Off Timer.
•
The machine should have auto-restart function. In case of a power failure, the air conditioner should
automatically restores the previous function settings.
Refrigerant piping (for split AC): The compressor, condenser and the evaporator coil shall be
interconnected with soft copper refrigerant piping and the valves shall be of brass/gun metal. The refrigerant
circuit shall include capillary arrangement & distributor. The refrigerant piping shall be of 22 G. The refrigerant
piping shall be duly supported & clamped on walls / angle with as per site requirement.

Material: All ducts shall be fabricated out of best quality galvanized steel sheets. Sheets used shall be
produced by hot dip process. All the ducting has to be checked for the leakage before insulation by visual
inspection method in the presence of owner/ consultant. All the joints must have neoprene gasket to avoid air
leakage.

Grills/Registers/Diffusers: All grills/Diffusers/Registers will be made form heavy gauge extruded Aluminum
sections duly powder coated to match the interior requirements of Architect/Client. All the supply air
grills/diffusers will be provided with opposed blade dampers fabricated from Aluminum. The damper should
be suitable for operation from the front face of Grille/ Diffuser.
Supply and return air registers: Supply and return air registers shall be of approved make with extruded
Aluminum section finished with powder coating.
The rectangular supply air grills shall be of fixed bars of 00, 150, or 300. The volume control damper shall be
in aluminum with opposed blades.
The rectangular return air grills shall be of fixed bar liner grills with 00, to 450 deflection. The return air shall
be without VCD.
The grills shall be provided concealed fixing arrangement.
All the volume control dampers, the blank-off sheets and wherever any shining surface is visible behind the
supply/return air grill should be painted with tow coats of black black-board paint.

Diffuser: All rectangular/square/round diffusers shall be of approved make with extruded Aluminum
construction. The supply air diffuser shall be equipped with fixed air distribution grids and removable keyoperated volume control dampers. All the diffuses shall be finished with powder coating approved color. The
adjustable dampers shall be painted with black black-board paint.
The return air diffusers shall be without VCD.
All grill and diffusers shall be provided with sponge rubber gasket between flanges and the wall or
coiling/bulkhead.
All frame for fixing the grills and diffusers shall be provided by the building contractor, under the supervision
of ducting contractor. However the grills and diffusers shall be fixed by the ducting contractor.
Insulation:
Under deck insulation (If applicable): Wherever indicated and specified in drawings, the exposed roof of
the air-conditioned area and the plant room shall be covered with 50 mm thick expanded polystyrene. The
expanded polystyrene shall be of TF quality. The E.P.S shall be stuck to the roof by tar after cleaning the
same. Suitable supports of G.I. wire netting fixed in slab with screws shall be provided at a distance of 500
mm.
Insulation of supply and return air duct: Insulation of supply air and return air ducts shall be done by 12
mm thick EPE layered polyethylene pre laminated with Aluminium foil. The insulation material shall be stuck
to the duct surface by rubber solution after cleaning. All the joints have to be sealed properly with
transparent / B.O.P.P. tape.
Acoustic Insulation of supply air duct: Initial 1.5 m of supply air duct shall be lined by glass wool 12 mm
thick of density 48 kg/cum covered with R P Tissue paper and finished with aluminum- perforated sheet. The
plenum shall also be lined with this insulation.
Electrical:
Equipment wiring (wire/ cable sizes): For all single Phase/3 Phase wiring, 1100 Volts grade PVC insulated
copper conductor cables shall be used.
The minimum size of control wiring shall be 1.5 sq. mm. PVC insulated stranded soft drawn copper conductor
wires drawn though conduit to be provided for connecting equipment and control panels.
