Project SERV: School Emergency Response to Violence From the Us Department of Education This program funds short-term and long-term education-related services for local educational agencies (LEAs) and institutions of higher education (IHEs) to help them recover from a violent or traumatic event in which the learning environment has been disrupted. http://www2.ed.gov/programs/dvppserv/index.html This funding program was originally developed after the Columbine school shooting to help school districts restore the learning environment primarily by providing mental health and social emotional learning services to students and staff in response to a violent event within the school. Districts have also received SERV funding for student suicides and community violence that had an adverse affect on the learning environment.
