The Law Project
Guide to Accessing The Law Project
British Columbia teachers have access to an enhanced version of the Teaching Centre
where they can select, modify, and publish assignments for their students to see when
they log in to the Law Project.
If you are a teacher in another jurisdiction, you will have access to all the resources in
the Teaching Centre except the ability to modify and publish assignments. You will still
be able to select an assignment in PDF form that can be projected or printed for your
class.
CREATING AN ACCOUNT
All users must activate their accounts within 24 hours by clicking on the link within the
confirmation email that is sent when they join. Accounts not activated within 24 hours
are deleted in which case the user will have to create a new account.
MANAGING YOUR LAW PROJECT USER ACCOUNTS
IMPORTANT: Make a note of the User ID and Password you used when you created
your account. Save the confirmation email that was sent to you when you created your
account.
MULTIPLE CLASSES
If you are using the Law Project with more than one class, you will need to create a
separate teacher account for each class. You can “Join” again using all the same
information except the User ID must be different. You might find it convenient to create
an easy to remember User ID by simply adding the new class section number to your
current User ID (e.g. UserID101)
Students taking more than one class will also need to create a separate user account
for each class. They can use all the same user information except the User ID must be
different.

Forgot Your Password or Changing Your Password
If you have forgotten your password, or want to change your password, go to http://
www.lawproject.ca and then click on the ʻForgot Your Password?ʼ link, under the Login
form.
You will then need to fill in the Forgot Your Password form.
When you submit the form successfully, an email will be sent to the email address that
we have on record for your account. You will need to click on the confirmation link in the
email in order to confirm your changed password. If you donʼt click on the confirmation
link within 24 hours, your request to change password will be deleted. If this happens,
you can change your password again.
Forgot Your Username
If you forget your username, there is no way to retrieve it through the website. In this
case, your only option is to create a new account.
Change Your Email Address
There is no option to change your email address on your account. If you change your
email address, you will not be able to use the Forgot Your Password form to change
your password. This is the only feature that you will not be able to use if you change
your password. You will be able to use the rest of the website.
If you change your email address and then forget your password, your only option will
be to create a new account.

The Teaching Centre and Its Resources
When you first enter the Teaching Centre, you will see three resource areas from which
to choose:
1. Residential Schools: about the impact of Indian Residential Schools, shows
curriculum matches for courses in all Canadian provinces and territories.
Educators are guided to a Lesson Plan Organizer that includes resources, lesson
plans, and assignments in PDF format.
2. All Topics Resources: organized according to seven learning modules arranged
by subject area within a panorama web page.
