From Gerald J. Berry, MD After careful consideration and thought I would respectfully like to submit my name for consideration for President of the Pathology Council for the upcoming term. Over the next 12 months I would like to focus on 2 or 3 areas to vitalize the Council. As you know we are now a separate and distinct Council from the basic science group. As such we will need to increase our membership. I think that this can be accomplished in part through the expansion of the digital pathology project that Annalisa Angelini, MD has established. The success of the European initiative for the digital study of ACR and the recent launch of the ISHLT-sponsored AMR digital project should serve as a catalyst to attract more members into the group. I hope that we can utilize this technology to address focused questions and issues around heart and lung transplant pathology. In addition I think that we can enhance the educational needs of trainees in pathology and other disciplines through discussion of interesting cases and diagnostic challenges and, in turn, promote the Council and all it has to offer the membership. Thank you Gerald Berry, MD
