Yourprofile,alsoknownasyourwall
ortimeline,iswhereyoucanseeyour
profilepicture,whatyouhaveposted,
whatothershavepostedtoyouand
anythingthatyouweretaggedin.
Thesepostsareorganized
chronologically,withthenewestposts
atthetop.
Whatisyourprofilepicture?
Yourprofilepictureisthephotothat
identifiesyoutoothersonFacebook.
Itcanbeseenbybothfriendsandthe
public,regardlessofprivacysettings.
What’saFacebookFriend?
AFacebookfriendisanybodythatyouhavepermittedtointeractwithyouonFacebook.You
canrequesttobefriendswithothersbysendingthemafriendrequest.Thiscanbedoneby
clickingtheaddfriendbuttonontheirprofile.

yourFacebookfriends.Creatingapostmayalsobereferredtoasupdatingyourstatus.

WhatisaFacebookPage?AFacebookpageistheidentityofabusiness,organizationor
communityonFacebook.Onlytheadministratorofthepagemaypostonthepage,however
youdohavetheabilitytosendaprivatemessagetothepage.AFacebookpageshouldnotbe
confusedwithaFacebookgroup.
WhatisaFacebookGroup?A
pagethatallowsallmembersto
postinformation.Somegroups
requireapprovalfromthegroup
administratorinordertojoin,
thosegroupsareconsidered
private.Publicgroupsmeanthat
anybodyispermittedtojoin.
WhatismyNewsfeed?Your

yourpost,indicatingthattheyhaveanassociationtothematerialthatyouaresharing.They
willthenreceiveanotificationthattheyweretagged,aswellasanytimesomeonelikesor
commentsonthepostthattheyaretaggedin.
WhatisaMutualFriend?FacebookwilllistMutualFriendsthatyousharewithanotheruser.
Thesepeoplearefriendsthatappearintheuser’sfriendlist,aswellasyourown.

MutualfriendsareaveryusefulpartofFacebook.Viewingsomebody’smutualfriendsmayhelp
inyourdecisiontoaddthemasafriendornot.
1. GotothesearchbaratthetopoftheFacebookpageandtypeinyourclosestfriend’s
name.
2. Onceyouhavelocatedtheirprofile,clickonFriends,locatedtotherightoftheirprofile
picture.
3. Youwillnowseealistofalloftheirfriends.Findthetabwithinthatlistthatindicates
howmanymutualfriendsthetwoofyoushareandclickonit.
4. Youcannowseealistofallofthepeoplethatappearinbothpeople’slistoffriends.

keepingothersprivatesothatonlyyouandyour

Itisimportanttoprotectyourpersonalinformation
onlinetoavoidputtingyourselfatriskforidentity
theftandothercrimes.Alwaysbesureto:
