Evaporative Condensing Chiller Systems High Efficiency And Simplicity In One Package Custom Packaged HVAC Systems Evaporative Condensing Chiller Systems Mammoth evaporative condensing chillers offer you efficiency that rivals water-cooled centrifugal chillers and the simplicity of an air-cooled chiller High-Efficiency Chiller Systems Quality Design and Construction From The Experts Mammoth evaporative condensing chiller systems can offer as much as 40% operating cost savings versus air-cooled alternatives and rival the efficiency of water-cooled centrifugal chillers. They can be used in virtually any building application or climate and are available in sizes from 50 to 1200 tons. Mammoth pioneered the use of evaporative cooling in commercial HVAC applications more than 40 years ago. Our evaporative condensing chillers are designed to provide troublefree operation over the life cycle of your system: • Large-orifice, non-clogging water nozzles provide complete and continuous wetting of the coil surface for a high rate of heat transfer. • ABS tube sheets and a 304L stainless steel sump protect the coils against abrasion and galvanic corrosion. • A walk-in service vestibule provides ample access to pumps and water treatment components for easy maintenance and service. • Advanced, chemical-free water treatment options are environmentally friendly and can qualify for a LEED point. The Benefits Of Evaporative Cooling Evaporative cooling improves the heat rejection process by using the cooling effect of evaporation. Water is sprayed over the condensing coil from above while air is simultaneously blown up from below. As the water evaporates, it naturally lowers the condensing temperature. The result is reduced compressor kW draw (25 to 30%) coupled with demand-charge savings of up to 30% of a utility bill in some cases. But the benefits of these chillers do not stop with efficiency: • Up to a 50 percent smaller footprint than comparable tonnage air-cooled chillers because they require less coil surface area and move less air. • Quieter than comparable-tonnage, air-cooled chillers because they move less air. • The reduced compressor kW draw can lower electrical installed costs because wire sizes, disconnects and other electrical controls can be reduced. • For replacement applications, you may be able to increase tonnage with the same or less building electrical-service needs and footprint. 2 Mammoth Standalone or Integrated Controls Unit, HVAC system and building controls are central elements to the comfort and operating economy of your building. The Mammoth EPiC™ system combines a software approach that can work over a wide range of control protocols with specific hardware interconnection tools to help you achieve your goals. Our standard, factory-integrated DDC controller can be easily customized to meet any sequence of operation required in a 100% stand-alone mode or while connected to a Building Automation System (BAS) using any of today’s four leading protocols: BACnet®, Modbus®, N2®, and LONTALK®. Our base controller provides ample input/output capacity plus support for an expander board if additional I/O capacity is required. Overall Features and Benefits Flexible Designs to Match Your Application From a simple, evaporative-cooled chiller to a super-efficient one—combining oil-free, magnetic bearing compressors and waterside economizers—we can meet your requirements. Innovative Compressor Options Available with oilfree, magnetic bearing compressors that provide unprecedented partload performance, low maintenance and quiet, reliable operation. Scroll, screw, and centrifugal compressor options, including oilfree, magnetic bearing compressors, help you match the right technology for optimum energy efficiency and reliability. Quiet Operation Noise-abating construction and other low-sound options include double-wall cabinets, condenser fan silencers, variable-speed condenser fans and FANWALL TECHNOLOGY condenser fans. Integrated Pumping Packages Pumps, piping and controls for chilled water distribution—as well as boilers and pumps for hot water distribution—can be integrated into the design of the system and factory installed. Custom-Manufactured Heat Exchanger Optimized For Your Application Shell-and-tube or brazed-aluminum condenser heat-exchanger options afford flexibility in size, cleanability and location. Reliable Start-up and Operation Each chiller system is factory assembled, piped, charged and runtested for reliable start-up. Dual sump and building supply pumps and multiple compressors provide redundancy. Typical energy usage (kWH) savings of evaporative versus aircooled condensing (200-ton office building) Optional Factory Commissioning Units can be commissioned at the factory to reduce start-up times and field-commissioning costs. High-Efficiency Condenser Operation Large orifice, non-clogging water nozzles provide complete, continuous wetting of coil surface for a high heat-transfer rate. Easy Maintenance and Service A walk-in service vestibule provides ample access to pumps and water treatment components for easy maintenance and service. Optional, sump sweep technology dramatically reduces manual cleaning. Reduced kW draw can lower your electrical installed costs.
