DSP Beam Steering with instant simulation and high-speed communication
allowing reduced time in design and acoustic performance
T O A br ought t oge t her it s pr oprie t ar y line arr ay t echnology and digit al signal
processing (DSP) technology in developing the SR-D8 active line array speaker. As
w ell as pr oces sing both analog and digit al audio input , this inno v ativ e speak er
harnesses 8 built-in digital amplifiers to project sound waves to targeted areas with
greater precision than is possible with conventional speaker s. By digitally shaping
the width and angle of acous tic beams , it can s t eer sound precisely to desired
areas without requiring a change of installation location.
This f eatur e mak e s it w ell suit ed f or us e in v enue s wher e s truc tur al or de sign
considerations make it hard to move speakers about or where unwanted reverberation
must be kept to a minimum.
The GUI software provides control of all
functions, including mixing, digital signal
processing, and simulations.

Vertical beam width is adjustable by increments
o f 1° within a range o f 45°, while the v er tical
beam steering angle is adjustable from -45° to
+45° in increments of 1°.
When targeting two separate areas at the same
time, suf ficient co verage can be achieved by
spli t t ing t he b e a m in t o t w o dir e c t ions a nd
adjusting the width and ver tical angle of each
beam. Such beam splitting is especially effective
when simult aneously co v ering bo th floor and
balcony seating.
By calculating the various parameters of steering

system automatically set the angle and width of
