Subject: Service Alert #390 Date: 04/05/13 Incorrectly Wired Fuse Blocks On Single Power Source Duplex Control Panels IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED IMPORTANT PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE Incorrectly wired fuse blocks on single power source duplex control panels: Potential Fire Hazard - Immediate Action Required Affected Product: All Duplex Control Panels with a single power source – shipped from the Quincy Illinois Plant between Dec 1, 2012 and Mar 1, 2013. ISSUE: Transformer primary fuse block is incorrectly wired, resulting in a bypass of these fuses. Correction/Work to be Performed: Tools required. • • • Lockout/Tagout – Padlock and tag. Electrical voltage tester. Screwdriver. 1. Lockout and tag out the electrical energy to the panel (REQUIRED!). Work will be performed on the control panel power circuit. Locate the transformer fuse block (Ref photos). Confirm that wiring is incorrect. If wiring is correct no action needed. If incorrect proceed to step 3. Loosen screws securing the black lead wires to the transformer fuse block. Remove wires from fuse block and relocate to the opposite end of the fuse block. Tighten all screws on both ends of the fuse block (see photos). 2. 3. 4. When filing the warranty claim, Quincy Compressor allow (1/2) hour labor plus travel and mileage for performing the wiring correction. Multiple units at the same location must be completed on the same trip. The power leads going to the transformer in the photos below are on the same side of the fuse as the leads going to the transformer input terminals. This configuration leaves the primary fuses out of the transformer power circuit – the transformer is not fuse protected.
