Sikasil® RTV Gasket forms a tough but flexible seal of all shapes and sizes and fills any surface voids. The cured product can withstand vibration, weathering, temperature extremes, water, oil and grease without hardening, shrinking or cracking. ® Sikasil RTV Gasket is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 quality assurance system. 2) 23°C / 50% r.h. Product Benefits - Superior extreme temperature resistance (-50 - 250°C) - Excellent vibration, UV and weathering resistance - Good gap-filling properties - Highly versatile - Easy to apply - Aquarium safe (translucent only) Areas of Application Sikasil® RTV Gasket is designed to replace conventional cut gaskets (rubber, paper, cork and felt) used for typical flanges and mechanical assemblies (oil pans, rocker covers, water pumps, gear boxes, etc) in cars, trucks, boats, tractors, lawn mowers and related vehicles and equipment. It can also be used for gasketing and sealing in refrigerators, dishwashers, air conditioning units, oven doors and related appliances, especially where high temperature resistance is required. This product is suitable for professional experienced users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility. ® CQP = Corporate Quality Procedure Sikasil RTV Gasket 1 / 2 1) 1-C silicone Translucent, Black Moisture-curing Acetoxy 1.0 kg/l approx. 5 - 45°C 10 min approx. 20 min approx. 24 hours approx. 25 approx. 2 1.0 N/mm approx. 600% approx. -50 - 250°C approx. 18 months Cure Mechanism ® Sikasil RTV Gasket cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. The reaction thus starts at the surface and proceeds to the core of the joint. The curing speed depends on the relative humidity and the temperature. At low temperatures the water content of the air is lower and the curing reaction proceeds more slowly. Removal Uncured, excess Sikasil® RTV Gasket may be removed with ® Sika Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the excess sealant can be trimmed away from the edges with a knife. Hands and exposed skin should be ® washed immediately using Sika Handclean towels or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents! Application Limits ® Sikasil RTV Gasket is not recommended for use in applications where it will be permanently exposed to temperatures exceeding 250°C or in contact with fuels (e.g. engine head or exhaust manifold gaskets). The above information is offered for general guidance only. Advice on specific applications will be given on request. Overpainting Sikasil® RTV Gasket cannot be overpainted. 300 g 75 g Value Bases All technical data stated in this Product Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests.
