N EGOTIATION SEASON
This is negotiation season,
and many of our local units’
agreements, as well as the
GM units international
agreements are up for negotiation. This process started
many months ago with the
contract demand process.
There are demand forms for
Local and International
agreements. These, along
with lessons learned by the
bargainers, and actions by
management, is what forms
the basis for what we bargain
for. It’s important that
members get involved by
filling out the demand forms,
attending meetings, and voting for your delegates and
other Union officials. To be
the voice of your Union, you
must be involved.
for a fair and equitable agreement. These hard working
men and woman have been
without an agreement since
last fall. The local negotiators have stood strong as the
corporation has pushed for a
lopsided agreement. Again,
keep our AI brothers and
sisters in mind as the International and Local Union negotiators work toward a new

thresholds. The current
thresholds for high cost
health plans are $10,200 for
individuals, and $27,500 for
families. The insurer pays
this tax, and in some cases
the company. Though it is
likely the cost will be passed
along; wouldn’t want to take
a bite out of the CEO’s seven figure income. Depending on your agreement, your

M ENTORING THE
FUTURE
In the coming months many
of the Locals’ units will be
adding manpower. While
some will be returning members, others will be brand
new. This is the perfect opportunity for seasoned employees to take the new
members under their wings.
A whole generation of employees can begin their careers with a strong
knowledge foundation.
Teach them the ropes, show
them what a good Unionist
is, and teach them how to be
a powerful voice for the
working class men and women in this country. Not only
is it the right thing to do,
quite frankly, it’s our duty.
