The General Shipping tankcoating station is
based in Piraeus area, mainly at the Greek
Shipyards, one of the largest shipbuilding and
repair yards in the Mediterranean, a perfect
location for tankcoating jobs, with an ideal
climate.

Cargo Tank Coating
General Shipping has a history of corrosion control experience. This in-depth knowledge is the key to General Shipping’s
success, in meeting the challenging demands of tank coating
product and chemical carriers, every time.
Stripe coatings are essential to areas that may not be adequately covered by airless spray application. Stripe coating
is a first priority, as the majority of coating failures occur in
these areas.

The tank is cleaned with a vacuum cleaner to ensure that the surface and staging
are free from grit and dust.
Every step in the tankcoating process, from steel surface preparation to final drying or curing, is monitored to ensure conformity to specified standards.

Cargo Hold Coating
The quality and longevity of coatings depend primarily on the
treatment of steel surfaces and on the prevailing conditions
during the application.
Ballast tanks, oil cargo tanks and holds of bulk carriers or
OBOs are known to be most susceptible to corrosion and are
thus of prime concern. General Shipping’s treatment and
coating quality provide long term protection on all surface
areas of cargo holds.

A highlight in General Shipping’s recent development is the
upgrading projects it has implemented for the Hellenic Navy.
Projects such as landing ships, floating docks and gun boats at
Elefsis Shipyards and Hellenic Shipyards, to name just a few.
All surface treatment projects performed on new technology
submarines and upgrades (Programs NEPTUNE I & II, executed
by ThyssenKrupp/H.D.W.), are performed by General Shipping
S.A. to the full satisfaction of the Hellenic Navy and Shipyards
quality control.
