Purpose:
This activity will teach the children the importance of obeying.
Description:
The teacher will tell the children to complete a task. If they obey, they get to stay in the game; if
they do not do it, they have to sit out.

Who wants to play a game?
Great! Today, we are learning that God Wants Me To Obey.
Let’s all say that together. God Wants Me To Obey.
Right now, we are going to play a game called “Do What I Say.”
This is a game that will help you to learn to obey.
For the game, all you have to do is listen to what I say and do it!
If you do not obey, then you will have to sit out and you can’t play anymore.
Let’s play!

It’s Good To Obey
God Wants Me To Obey
Purpose:
This activity will help the children see that good things happen when they obey.
Description:
The children have the choice to participate in a game where they will complete several
different activities. If they choose to participate in them, something good will happen to them.
Materials Needed:
For this activity you will need this help sheet, blocks or empty cardboard boxes, and stickers or
pencils (or some other type of reward).

Great! Today, we are learning: God Wants Me To Obey.
So, we are going to play a game where you get to practice obeying!
When we obey God, good things happen.
God told Noah to build the Ark; he did and he was saved from the flood.
What if Noah had chosen not to obey God and not build the Ark? (Noah wouldn’t have been
safe from the flood.)

8. We are going to play a game where you need to complete some fun activities.

During the activity say:
1. The first thing I want you to do is build a wall of the Ark with those blocks.
2. If you choose not to do this activity please sit quietly on the floor. (Show the children a spot
out of the way of the ark’s wall.)
Note: Encourage children as they build the wall. Remind them that God Wants Me to Obey Him
just like Noah did.
3. Great wall! Noah would be proud! Everyone who helped build the wall raise a hand to get
a prize for participating!
Note: The prize can be anything like a sticker, pencil, ticket for your church store, or a stamp.
4. On to the next activity!
Note: Continue in this manner, asking the children who do not want to participate to sit out and
rewarding those who do participate for the following activities:
Additional Activities

• say something nice to a friend
• hold a partner’s hand and 2 X 2 hop around the room
• go under the rainbow (2 adults make an arch with their arms)
• fly around the room like a bird
After the activity say:
1. When you decided to obey what happened? (Got a sticker/prize.)
2. Right! Something good happened to you!
3. What do you think would happen if you did what your mom told you to do the first time?
(Maybe I would get a special treat. It would make my mom happy.)
4. Those are good answers. If you obey your mom, she might do something nice for you like
give you a treat.
5. What would happen if you didn’t hit your sister even though you really want to? (She might
be nice to me. She might not hit me the next time she gets mad at me.)
6. When we obey God, many times good things will happen!

Animal Stick Figures
God Wants Me To Obey
Purpose:
This activity will help the children remember how the animals came to the ark in this week’s
Bible Story.
Description:
The children will select a pre-made animal, color it and attach it to a craft stick.
Materials Needed:
For this activity you will need this help sheet, crayons, glue sticks, craft sticks, and the “Animal
Stick Figures/Lesson 5” printouts from the Lesson Materials CD-ROM.

During the activity say:
1. Pick out an animal and go decorate it!
2. You obeyed when you did what I asked you to do.
3. Now we are going to attach your animal to this craft stick.
4. Find someone who has the same animal as you and sit by them.
5. Good job obeying!
6. Now, we are going to make the noise that our animals make.
Note: Help the children if they don’t know what noise to make for their animal.
After the activity say:
1. You all did a great job making these animals.
2. These animals can remind us that Noah had gathered them to put them on the ark. Noah
did this so he could obey God.
Summary:
Noah wanted to obey God and when he did, he was safe from the flood. We need to obey God
like Noah did.

Make A Match
God Wants Me To Obey
Purpose:
This activity will help the children review the Bible Story and remember the lesson: God Wants
Me To Obey.
Description:
The children will work to match up pictures from the Bible Story in order to review the lesson.
Materials needed:
For this activity, you will need this help sheet, wooden clothes pins, and the ”Make A Match/
Lesson 5” printouts from your Lesson Materials CD-ROM.
Note: Cut out and glue the Mini Make A Match pictures onto the wooden clothes pins before your
class begins.

To introduce the activity say:
1. Who can tell me what we are learning today? (God Wants Me To Obey.)
2. That’s right! We are going to see if we can remember some things from our Bible Story
today.
3. I’ve got some pictures from our Bible Story here.
4. I want you to clip these clothes pins to the picture it matches.
5. Once we get all the pictures matched up, we’ll go over the Bible Story.
Variation: If you find that your younger children have problems using the clothes pins, you can
have them simply match the mini pictures with the large pictures (rather than clipping them on
the picture). After they make the matches, proceed with the lesson as detailed above in order to
review the Bible Story.

During the activity say:

1. Noah was living in a land far away with his family.
2. The people in the land were doing bad things and not obeying God.
3. Noah knew that God wanted him to obey so he did.
4. One day God told Noah that He had a special project for him.
Picture 2 (God’s Plans for the ark)
1. God told Noah His plans for an ark.
2. The ark was to be made of cypress wood and be waterproof.
Picture 3 (Two animals of every kind)
1. God also told Noah that He was going to destroy the earth with a flood.
2. God wanted Noah to gather up two of every kind of animal.
3. Noah would keep them alive during the flood.
Picture 4 (Noah builds the ark)
1. Noah knew that God wanted him to obey, so he did.
2. Noah began to build the ark and gather the animals.
3. He didn’t have a lot of help and the ark was big so it took him a long time.
4. But, Noah didn’t give up, he obeyed God.
After the activity say:
1. You did great remembering the Bible Story for today!
2. We saw that Noah obeyed God by building the ark and gathering the animals.
3. We learned that God Wants Me To Obey.
Summary:
Today when you go home, you will get a copy of all of these pictures on your Family Devotional.
Use them to help you tell your families about our Bible Story and to tell them that God Wants
Me To Obey.

Load the Boat
God Wants Me To Obey
Purpose:
This activity will remind the children that God Wants Me to Obey.
Description:
The children will take the animals they created for the craft activity and march them into an Ark
(a masking tape square on the floor).
Materials Needed:
For this activity you will need this help sheet, the animals from the Craft Classroom Activity, and
masking tape.
To introduce the activity say:

Who wants to help load the boat?
Great! God told Noah to build an ark and then fill it with animals.
Noah obeyed God and God saved Noah from the flood.
Now, we are going to load our ark with the animals we made earlier.
And here is our ark today!
Today, we are going to take our animals we made and load them into the ark.
As you load your animal on the boat, make the sound your animal makes.
Let’s load!

1. Let’s make a line and you can go first!
2. Load your animal and don’t forget to make the animal noises! Great!
Note: Encourage the children as they walk their animals into the masking tape square. Discuss
how Noah must have felt when all the animals were coming into his ark.

1. Great loading! Everybody sit down in the ark.
2. Now that we are on the ark, let’s remember what Noah did. Did Noah obey God and
do what He told him to do? Yes! Noah obeyed God and we should, too!

3. Let’s say what we are learning together: God Wants Me to Obey!
4. When are some times that you can obey? (When my mom tells me to pick up my toys. When
my dad asks me to feed the dogs. When my teacher tells me to sit down or be quiet.)
5. Great! Those are all times you can obey.
6. God wants us to obey Him and that means obeying our parents and teachers, too.
Summary:
When your mom or dad asks you to do something this week, make sure you obey them because
that’s what God wants you to do!
