We just upgraded to v10.5 and it killed us with the implementation of multicast support enabled right out of the box. It created continuous deadlocks with the database. The only way we could disable it was for Support to give us the raw SQL to delete all the multicast pollers from the database and disable a multicast stored procedure. Well, this took several days of troubleshooting with SolarWinds but it was Microsoft Tier3 support first that diagnosed what was killing the SQL Server. In any case, once SolarWinds resolves the multicast issue, we would like to take advantage of this feature but again this is a challenge to re-enable multicast polling. The only way to do this is to run List Resources and re-enable multicast for each Layer 3 device.
This feature request is for SolarWinds, when they implement major new polling features, to implement a global Action within Manage Nodes to be able to enable/disable polling features. For example, there should be an Action to globally enable/disable each of these features. It would also be helpful especially in quickly troubleshooting and isolating which polling is the root cause.
