Procedure:
1. Assemble heat exchange as per drawing & refer to Photo.
2. Position Heat Muff onto Muffler outlet
pipe, making sure the muff is as close to
the muffler as possible. See Photo &
Drawing.

Fit flexible Heat Exchange to exhaust (only applies to J200/400 aircraft)
1. Cut heat muff in half using a hacksaw.
2. Insert machined bushes into aluminium heat exchange & rivet into position.
3. Assemble flexible scatt hose onto heat exchange & slide heat exchange onto the left
hand side outlet pipe.

hose to top &
bottom half.
4. Using the cap screws clamp heat
exchange into position.
J200/400 exhaust which has
bent outlet pipes. Flexible hose
will allow heat exchange to fit
around the radius.

Position Heat-box as close to the centre of the firewall as possible. As seen in photo,
position between the carburetor intake
& the hot air line for the carburetor
heat.
3. Mark perimeter of box into firewall. Remove box & mark the centre of the hole that is
to be drilled into firewall.
4. Using a 35mm hole-saw, drill through stainless & plywood if necessary.
5. Rivet Heat exchange assemble onto firewall using 1/8” rivets.
6. Using a hole saw make a 35mm hole in the front of the cowling & rivet air intake
flange into position with 1/8” rivets. Refer to photo.

7. Connect Scatt hose from air intake flange on cowl to intake tube in heat muff.

from heat muff on the
exhaust to hot air intake
in mixer box.

NOTE:
FIT EXCHANGER ASSY INSIDE COWL TO EXHAUST OUTLET PIPE.
USE 3/16" UNC SCREWS THRU END PLUGS TO HOLD EXCHANGER IN PLACE.
APPLY LOCTITE 620 (OR SIMILAR) TO SCREWS.
