DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES • Carry out the day-to-day activities with High School students • Meet with Seniors (last names A-La) for the college application process • Write college letters of recommendation • Maintain college record-keeping in Naviance • Teach classroom lessons on the college application/admission process • Provide social and emotional counseling for high school students • Provide academic counseling to high school students • Maintain student record-keeping in Infinite Campus • Teach juniors weekly college curriculum beginning second semester • Conduct individual appointments with juniors regarding the college search process • Communicate with parents and teachers by phone and email • Assist grades 9-12 with 2010-2011 course selection • Assist students with second semester schedule changes • Attend 11th and 12th grade Team Meetings • Attend Curriculum Committee Meetings • Attend Graduation Committee Meetings • Instruct Parent Pod evening meetings regarding the college application process • Other duties as assigned by the High School Principal SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will supervise the High School Counseling Intern. REPORTING STRUCTURE The High School College Counselor Long-Term Substitute reports directly to the Executive Principal. Ability to communicate effectively with students, Deans, Teachers and parents. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, staff, Administrators and parents. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts as it relates to grades, and formulas in EXCEL spreadsheets. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
