Smaller, lighter, faster, better – Sound familiar?
Dear Reader.
It seems that with the exception of waistlines, everything these days is getting smaller, whilst offering enhanced performance.
Mobile phones, mp3 players, netbooks and cameras are among today´s must-have products which continue to shrink, yet include an ever increasing number of features and benefits.
And this phenomenon is not restricted to high tech electronics!
Ferrari, for example, has recently redesigned their critically acclaimed Enzo – the acknowledged benchmark for sports car performance – by making it 300 kilos lighter, yet still strong
enough to handle its 600 horsepower engine. It now achieves the best power-to-weight ratio than any other car on the road.
In manufacturing, it’s the same story.
Today, our market is demanding ever smaller components with improved performance yet manufactured
