CODE 1429 PG-P16 NON-EXEMPT ELECTRONICS SPECIALIST (Facilities Management) *** This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement *** Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below: ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES Skilled building electrical and electronic work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, appliances and trouble shoots electronic equipment such as solid state analog, digital, cameras, monitors, video and audio equipment, micro-processor and electro-mechanical controllers. Inspects, detects, and takes corrective measures to maintain, service, and/or repair equipment malfunctions to ensure that assigned work tasks of buildings and facilities are meeting daily operational standards. Checks electrical and electronic load factors and makes any necessary adjustments to prevent faults. Maintains and repairs electrical equipment and appliances (i.e.: controllers, motors, switchboard panels, lights, etc.). Locates and corrects power failures and motor trouble on electrical and electronically operated machinery and apparatus. May assist with installing equipment security steel reinforcements. Installs new electrical and electronic equipment as well as making alterations to electrical/electronic schematics for various county building, facilities and projects. Performs other electrical and mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts, using standard and special electrical tools and equipment (i.e.: volt meters, amp meters and other specialized meters, oscilloscope, etc.). Completes daily work and maintenance reporting records. May be assigned duties of other trade workers as required. Operates and uses a variety of building construction and maintenance trade tools and equipment. Cleans up work site areas. Performs related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS General knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical and electronic trades. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Knowledge of prevailing electrical/electronic codes. Ability to read technical wiring, schematic diagrams, sketches and blueprints associated with the trade. Ability to see colors, hear at a normal level, speak in a manner that can be understood, ambulate independently, make written notes, have steadiness of hand, bend, stoop, crawl, stand and drive. Ability to think and react calmly and responsively to emergency situations. Ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds of weight. Ability to learn the qualities and use of various parts and other electrical/electronic trade materials and components. Ability to install, alter, repair, maintain and locate defects in a variety of electrical/electronic equipment and systems. Ability to perform a variety of manual work in all weather conditions and building enclosures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and have a minimum of three (3) years building construction electrical experience. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of employment. Must be able to pass a national background check, mandated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, to include on-line security training. A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must have completed a certified electronics training program.
