About the Institution
University VOC College of Engineering was
established in the year 2009 and it is a
constituent college of Anna University,
Chennai. The University Campus offers 4 UG
courses in Civil (English & Tamil Medium),
EEE, ECE and Mechanical Engg. (English &
Tamil Medium). Also offers Part Time mode
of UG Courses in Civil, EEE and Mechanical
Engg from Academic year 2013.
About the Department
The department of Civil Engineering has
experienced and qualified faculties with
various specializations such as Structural
Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering,
Remote Sensing and GIS, Water Resources
Engineering, Construction Management,
Transportation
Engineering
and
Environmental Engineering. The Department
also encourages its students to engage in
extra-curricular and co-curricular activities,
essential for development, nurturing of team
spirit and developing organizational skills.
About the location:
Thoothukudi is a port city in Thoothukudi
district of Tamil Nadu. Thoothukudi is known
as "Pearl City" due to the pearl fishing carried
out in the town. The Institution is located in a
spacious serene campus situated on
Thoothukudi, and it is nearly 5 km away from
the Thoothukudi Railway Station and about
2 km away from the Thoothukudi bus stand.
Course contents:
1) Excess sludge disposal is one of the serious
challenges
in
biological
wastewater
treatment. Besides disposing the energy
content in it is utilized.
2) Fluoride,
although beneficial for the
mineralization of hard tissues in the human
body, can be toxic to humans with chronic
exposure to elevated concentrations
3) Parking is one of the most serious problems
to be addressed in the context of the ever
increasing traffic growth in Indian cities and
an effective parking management would
ensure in relieving the parking problems.

4) The pavement evaluation is important in
assessing its condition which deteriorates due
to the increasing high volume of vehicular
traffic and heavy axle loads.
