“This is a wonderful program, with excellent
leaders, speakers, and great opportunities for
intelligent discussions, ideas, and collaboration
among community members. I'm thrilled to be
able to say this was something I was able to
participate in right here in my own county, yet it
is a part of Colorado State University.” - 2014

University's Energy Master program has been
richly rewarding. Working among a university
staff committed to both educating and to
learning made the Energy Master program a

Empowering Coloradans
The Colorado Energy Master program offers three courses – with three classes per course – designed to provide an
unbiased, comprehensive overview of energy challenges, potential solutions, and individual choices. The courses
are intended for anyone who wants to delve deeper into how our energy system works and can also provide a
platform for furthering a career in energy. All weekday classes take place via webinar from your own personal
computer. Saturday classes begin at your host County Extension office and typically involve a field trip. The
webinars are conducted live in order to allow for real time interaction with instructors and other participants.
Classes are taught by a mix of CSU professors, industry experts, and Extension staff. Note that Saturday classes
include a field trip to promote experiential learning – please be prepared to make a short drive from your nearest
participating Extension office to an off-site location on these days. The cost of each course includes a Saturday
lunch.
Colorado Energy Masters are individuals who have successfully completed all coursework and who complete an
energy-related project of their choice. One does not need to become a certified Colorado Energy Master to take the
courses. There are many reasons one might pursue certification as a Colorado Energy Master – to gain knowledge
and skills in the energy field; to add value to your work; and/or to promote energy education or services in your
community. Past projects for Colorado Energy Master certification have included conducting a home energy
assessment, conducting a solar assessment, hosting an energy block party, hosting an energy film screening,
creating
website, translating
energy information into Spanish, teaching energy lesson plans in schools or to 4-H

youth, publishing energy tips in a local newspaper, and much more. Projects come from your own personal
inspiration, skills, and abilities. Some guidance on choosing a project is provided.
The following county Extension offices will host the in-person Saturday classes for the 2015 Colorado Energy
Master program. You do NOT need to be a resident of a host county in order to participate in the program.
