ENERGIZE YOUR COMMUNITY. 2015 Colorado Energy Master Program What the program offers: • • • • • • • • • A mix of webinars an in-person classes to balance convenience with hands-on learning Explore big picture issues like energy sources, uses, policy, climate change, and transportation fuel alternatives Learn about options for energy efficiency and renewable energy in your own home Gain experience conducting basic home energy assessments and solar assessments Use CSU Extension energy decision tools to understand the financial feasibility of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures Interact with others who share similar interests An opportunity to complete a meaningful energy project in your community Teachers can earn up to 2 graduate credits through CSU’s Division of Continuing Education Realtors can earn 9 continuing education credits through the Colorado Association of Realtors Course fees: • $35/course for aspiring Energy Masters, students, and teachers • $65/course for regular registrants • $15 total discount when registering for all three courses Empowering Coloradans The Colorado Energy Master program offers three courses – with three classes per course – designed to provide an unbiased, comprehensive overview of energy challenges, potential solutions, and individual choices. The courses are intended for anyone who wants to delve deeper into how our energy system works and can also provide a platform for furthering a career in energy. All weekday classes take place via webinar from your own personal computer. Saturday classes begin at your host County Extension office and typically involve a field trip. The webinars are conducted live in order to allow for real time interaction with instructors and other participants. Classes are taught by a mix of CSU professors, industry experts, and Extension staff. Note that Saturday classes include a field trip to promote experiential learning – please be prepared to make a short drive from your nearest participating Extension office to an off-site location on these days. The cost of each course includes a Saturday lunch. Colorado Energy Masters are individuals who have successfully completed all coursework and who complete an energy-related project of their choice. One does not need to become a certified Colorado Energy Master to take the courses. There are many reasons one might pursue certification as a Colorado Energy Master – to gain knowledge and skills in the energy field; to add value to your work; and/or to promote energy education or services in your community. Past projects for Colorado Energy Master certification have included conducting a home energy assessment, conducting a solar assessment, hosting an energy block party, hosting an energy film screening, creating website, translating energy information into Spanish, teaching energy lesson plans in schools or to 4-H Hosta Counties >>> youth, publishing energy tips in a local newspaper, and much more. Projects come from your own personal inspiration, skills, and abilities. Some guidance on choosing a project is provided. The following county Extension offices will host the in-person Saturday classes for the 2015 Colorado Energy Master program.
