TITLE:
Divisional Badger Leader
ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Divisional Officer in Charge / Assistant Regional Youth
Officer (Badgers)
HOURS:

Role Summary
1. To provide support and advice to the Divisional Officer in Charge on all matters relating
to the Badger Sections.
2. To co-ordinate the activities of the Badger Section within the Division.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1.
To advise the Divisional Officer in Charge (DOIC) on all aspects relating to the Badger
Section.
2.
Work as member of Divisional team with the youth leaders, Cadet Officer and DOIC
and to Liaise with Cadet and Adult Sections within Divisional setting.
3.
Build a close working relationship with all youth leaders under your supervision.
4.
Maintain a close liaison with other Divisions and Assistant Regional Youth Officer
(Badgers).
5.
Actively ensure compliance with all Safeguarding policies and guidelines.
6.
Run a diverse annual programme for Badgers – a copy of which to be forwarded to
Assistant Regional Youth Officer (Badgers) on a 6 monthly basis.

7.
Actively promote and encourage participation in all Regional and HQ events for
Badgers and Adults working with Badgers. (e.g. competitions and training courses)
8.
Hold weekly Badger meetings (within term time).
9.
Actively promote and support the personal development of the Badgers, participation
in the Super Badger Award scheme
10.
Actively support the Our Voice movement by facilitating the forwarding of the views of
the Badgers on matters relating to St John.
11.
To actively utilise skills of the Follow me Badgers within your Sett.
12.
Maintain high standards of dress in regard to both Leaders and Badgers.
13.
Undertake CPD training and Youth Leader Development Course.
14.
Undertake the necessary training for the successful running of a Badger Sett e.g.
Gentle Walking Warrant, hold a current First Aid qualification and maintain efficiency.
15.
Complete, on time, any relevant administration work such as BFW4b and BFW7
promotion forms for processing via the Divisional Officer in Charge.
16.
Respond speedily to correspondence from Region and NHQ.
17.
Actively encourage retention and recruitment at all levels.
18.
To attend regular meetings at County/Regional and NHQ levels.
19.
Hold regular meetings with youth leaders within unit and report back any relevant
information reading Badgers.
20.
Hold regular meetings with Parents/Guardians to inform them of developments within
the division or organisation as a whole.
21.
To be prepared to undertake any reasonable request that the Divisional Officer in
Charge and Assistant Regional Youth Officer (Badgers) may require of him/her.
This is an unpaid voluntary role. Appointment to the role is binding in honour only and
is not intended to be a legally binding agreement nor is it intended to create a contract
of employment.
