Nora A. Janjan, M.D.
Dr. Nora Janjan is a Senior Fellow in Healthcare Policy at the National Center
for Policy Analysis and former tenured Professor of Radiation Oncology and
Symptom Research at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center,
Houston, Texas. She is Past President and Chair of the Board of the American
Society of Radiation Oncology, and Co-Chair of the Development Committee
of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation.
Dr. Janjan is a graduate of the University of Arizona and the University of
Arizona College of Medicine followed by residencies in Internal Medicine and
Radiation Oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Janjan
attained a Masters Degree in Public Service Administration at The Texas A&M
Bush School of Government and Public Service. Subsequently Dr. Janjan also
earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Rice University.
Dr. Janjan is a distinguished researcher who has published over 175 journal articles, 200 abstracts to
national meetings, over 50 book chapters, and edited two textbooks. Dr. Janjan also serves on multiple
journal editorial boards, including the position of Editor-in-Chief of Oncology, the fourth most-read
oncology publication.
Dr. Janjan has served on national and international panels to develop standards of healthcare. Among
these are the American Medical Associations Physician’s Consortium for Quality Improvement, Agency
for Healthcare Quality, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, National Quality Forum, American
Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Radiology, consultant to the International Atomic
Energy Agency in Vienna developing international standards of palliative care in oncology.
Dr. Janjan's regulatory experience includes appointment to the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee,
consultant to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, expert panelist for the Institute for Clinical and
Economic Research [ICER], an entity within NIH and contributor to the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services [CMS], and Vice-Chair on the Texas Radiation Advisory Board.
