It will look at the differenttrendswecanexpecttoseeinthefuture,howIwillmanagethedayto dayadministrationoftheofficeandanychangesIcanimplementnowthatwill helpusworktogethermoreeffectively. Preparing for the future: Key qualifications, skills and objectives - This session will really help me formulate my objectives and goals for this year and going forward. I also think this will help our discussions during my half-yearly and annual appraisal meeting. I will have a much more focused idea of what I thinkIcandotohelpyouandalsohowtomaketherolemorestrategic. Arewethenewmiddlemanagement–Ithinkthiswillbeareallyinspirational session.IoftenfeelthatIcandoalotmorewithintherolebutdon’tquiteknow how to move away from the idea that I am ‘just an assistant’. This session has beencrowdsourcedbythedelegates,whichsuggestsitisanimportanttopicof discussion. I love my career choice and do want to be involved in making the industrymoreappreciated. SocialMediaRoundTables–InthissessionIwillbelearningfromsomereally successful assistants who work at LinkedIn, Facebook and other forward thinkingcompanieswhoallincorporatesocialmediaintotheirdaytodayroles. AfterthissessionIwillbeabletousesocialmediatopromotetheorganisation andanyofyoursocialmediaplatforms.Iwillalsobeabletousesocialmediafor freetrainingopportunities. CreatinganeffectivepartnershipwithyourExecutive–Thisreallyisthekey tomyrole.Thissessionwilllookathowassistantworkwiththeirbosses.They willgivebestpracticetipsandtheywilldiscusshowtoachieveasuccessfulhigh functioningpartnership. The ultimate office technology guide – This session will demonstrate that technology and specifically apps will help increase our productivity. I am particularlyinterestedinreceivingalistofappsandtechnologythatIcanuseto improveefficiencyinourorganisation. Will we all become Virtual Assistants in the end? – This session will be interestingasmanyassistantsarenowworkingvirtuallywiththeirExecutives. ThespeakeristheUKVAoftheYear.Shewillgiveustipsonhowwecanmake the most of technology to work virtually with our Executives while they are travellingoroutoftheoffice.Howwecanstaybetterconnectedandhowwecan workmoreeffectivelyusingdifferentplatforms. Howtoorganizebettermeetingsandevents–AsyouknowIorganisequitea fewmeetingsandevents.Thissessionwillreallyhelpmeputproceduresinplace to properly manage these projects. The session promises to deliver some very practicaltipsforassistantswhoorganiseevents. Panel Session: Staying ahead of the scene – There are two panel sessions duringtheconference.Bothpanelsfeatureassistantswhoareatthetopoftheir game. The first panel session will look at all of the different venues, bars, restaurants in London and the UK. The panel will discuss what are the best optionsforcliententertainment,teambuildingevents,staffawaydays,external meetingsandrestaurantoptionsforpartiesanddinners. PanelSession:Thework/lifebalanceofasuccessfulPA–Thissessionwill feature PAs from across the UK who are all senior assistants to CEOs and Chairman. The panel will discuss how they balance their career and home life andtheirbesttimemanagementtips.Wewilllearnhowtheyprogressedintheir careerandtheywillsharetheirtipsonaddingcreativityandproactivitytothe role. Whatareyougoodat?–Ithinkthissessionwillreallyhelpmeunderstandthe uniqueskillsandattributesthatIhaveandhowIcanusethesetoreallybenefit youandtheorganisation.IthinkIwillcomeawayreallymotivatedandkeento domoretoraisemyprofileintheoffice. Once I return to the office I think the conference will have benefited me enormously,particularinthefollowingareas: • Iwillhavemadeanumberofnewcontactswithintheindustry. • • • • • • The conference will creatively use social media and I will learn how to incorporate social media into my role and as a resource tool for further careerdevelopment. I will receive an online delegate pack that I can share with other assistantsintheorganisation. Iwilllearnhowtopersuadeandinfluenceothermembersofstaff,which willbehelpfulformygatekeepingduties. Iwillhavegainedconfidenceinmyselfandintherole. I will have actionable ideas that will boost my productivity, confidence andeffectivenesswithintherole. Lastly,Ithinktheinvestmentwill • Improvemyperformanceandproductivity. • Makemeanevenbetteradministrativeprofessional. • Boostmyknowledgeskillsandproductivity. • Inspiremetobringnewwaysofworkingandfreshideastotherole. I think for all of these reasons attending the conference will really benefit my personal development and the work that I do every day.
