Thank you for purchasing the CAM Design Studios X9E Module Bay Adapter Kit. Mounting the module bay Be sure the radio is OFF ! 1.
Remove the four screws that hold on the back of the radio and set them in a safe place. Be careful not to lose the washers that are on the screws. Sometimes they are stuck in the pockets on the back of the radio. 2.
Remove the back of the radio. 3.
Carefully remove the hot glue holding the antenna wires in place. *!* DO NOT TUG ON THE ANTENNA WIRES *!* 4.
Disconnect the ribbon cables from the switch board. The brown lock on the smaller cable slides back for removal. The brown lock on the wider cable flips up for removal. 5.
Remove the four screws that hold the switch board in place. No need to unplug the switches, just move out of the way as much as possible. 6.
Remove the four screws that hold the switchboard mount in place. Remove the mount for modification. There may be wires run through the module mount. They can be followed and unplugged. Move them away from the mount and plug them back in. 7.
Cut off the ears that were provided for the stock module mount as shown.

Be sure there is nothing sticking out above the level that the module will sit on the base. 9.
Reinstall the board mount with the four original screws. 10.
Reinstall the board with the four original screws. 11.
Plug the ribbon cables back in and lock. 12.
Run the antenna extention. Be sure to run the wire in a rout that it does not interfere with any moving parts. The picture below shows the recommended route. 13.
Locate the two holes that will be used to mount the module bay. 14.
Mount the module bay using the two screws provided. Preparing the radio back for cutting 1.
Locate the template supplied. 2.
Cut the template to size along the lines. Cut out the inside of the template. 3.
Tape up enough of the back of the radio to cover the cut area. 4.
Tape the template to the back between the rubber grips and on the panel lines, top and bottom. 5.
Trace the pattern onto the tape. 6.
Using your preferred method for cutting, cut along the lines and remove the material
from the back. You may choose to remove the arms and grips to aid in cleanup after cutting. NOTE: The back of the radio is thick plastic with a layer of thick aluminum. A rotary tool, like a dremel, is recommended. Finishing the Install 1.
Make sure that the module bay sleeve fits with a little bit of wiggle room. Some trimming may be necessary. Remove the sleeve. 2.

Put the back back on the radio, but do not install the screws. Make sure you have a clear view of the module bay on all sides. 4.
Gently slide the module bay sleeve over the module bay in the new hole in the back of the radio. Some trimming may be necessary.

Make sure that the antenna wire will fit through the little notch provided in the bottom of the module bay sleeve.
6.
When you are happy with the fit, stick double sided tape *recommended* (or your desired mounting method) around the back side of the perimeter of the module bay sleeve. *I* Do not stick the sleeve to the radio back yet *I* 7.
Install the four screws back into the back of the radio. 8.
Being careful to align the antenna wire into the notch, reinstall the module bay sleeve and push down firmly against the back of the radio to stick it down with the double sided tape. 9.
A cover has been provided to use when no module is installed. CONGRATULATIONS You have completed the installation of your new module bay. Now, GO FLY!
