During my time at UWS I have liaised regularly with my Guidance Adviser who has given me advice on which modules to study in order to complete my degree. I have received a variety of help to fund my studies; Carnegie Trust Fund, ILA and latterly via my employer who have a Service Level Agreement with the University. The challenge is juggling my part-time studies with my full-time job, however, my employer has been very supportive and I ensure I assign time for my studies at home. – Andrea Sneddon, Part-time student and Dietetic Support Worker at Ayrshire Central Hospital 2 About UWS 4 UWS School of Health, Nursing & Midwifery 8 Your study options 12 BSc/BSc (Hons) Professional Health Studies 14 BSc Professional Health Studies (SCQF Level 9) 16 BSc (Hons) Professional Health Studies (SCQF Level 10) 18 Further study options 22 Application and fees 26 More info 28 BSc (Hons) Professional Health Studies Part-Time Study Guide 2015 3 97% of UWS health, nursing and midwifery students in work or further study 6 months after graduating* * HESA performance indicator 2014 93% of health, nursing and midwifery postgraduate students would recommend us to a friend* * Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey 2015 4 Shortlisted in the Times Higher Education Awards 2014 in the community contribution category for our work in dementia policy and practice Shortlisted in the Teaching Innovation of the Year category in the Student Nursing Times Awards 2014 for our Dementia: Through the Eyes of a Child project 63% of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy submission judged World Leading/Internationally Excellent – REF 2014 4* rating – ‘Whatuni’ Student Choice Awards 2015 12th in the Million+ group of UK universities Awarded highest rating possible for quality and standards in the 2014 Enhancement-Led Institutional Review Guardian University Awards runner up 2013 (Facilities) Runner-up 2013 SCONUL Library Design Awards winner 2013 (Ayr Campus) Green Gown Awards 2012 winner (Ayr Campus) NUS Green Impact (2014) winner winner INTERNATIONALLYRECOGNISED AND WORLD-LEADING RESEARCH (REF 2014) 5 15,133 FLEXIBLE ONLINE OPTIONS AVAILABLE 6 The largest provider of nurse education in Scotland Programmes designed with the professions and many professionally recognised AYR DUMFRIES HAMILTON PAISLEY The local university for 30% of Scotland’s population STUDENTS STUDYING PART-TIME MINUTES FROM GLASGOW* *Paisley Campus BSc (Hons) Professional Health Studies Part-Time Study Guide 2015 7 UWS School of Health, Nursing & Midwifery With over 5000 full and part-time students, studying at undergraduate, postgraduate and post-registration level, our health community is making a real difference to the health of the nation and also internationally.
