How to earn a Rain Bird Factory Trained designation
You can earn Rain Bird Factory Trained designations by completing the qualifying
coursework and passing a written exam. The qualifying courses and schedule can be found
in the following pages of this guide and class registrations can be completed online.
How to earn a Rain Bird Factory Trained
designation:
Register for the Factory Trained course by going
to www.rainbirdservicescorporation.com. Rain Bird Factory Trained courses are clearly
identified.

b. You will receive a renewal policy and guide
on how to use the designation mark.
* Designations are only awarded to an individual and not to a company.

The Rain Bird Factory Trained Central Control
Installer course is intended for professional
installers with a strong working knowledge of
central control irrigation systems to fine tune
their skills and standardize the installation process. This course is the pinnacle of central control installation training. Each day of the course
includes hands-on activities that address each
aspect of installing central control system
components either in a commercial or golf
application. The workshop is a combination
of classroom and field instruction including
a series of practical student demonstrations
designed to assess each student’s installation
ability. All aspects of the installation process
will be covered from the initial site assessment
to maintenance test and sign-off. Upon successful completion of the course, the student
will have demonstrated the skills necessary to
complete a central control system installation.
This training introduces and defines the role
of the IQ v2.0 system hardware components.
Hands on installation activities include communication between the Central Control
Computer and the family of IQ-NCC (Network
Communication Cartridges). Additional training is provided on the IQ-NCC configuration
and communications to the WS-PRO2 and
WS-PROLT Weather Stations. The participant
should have working knowledge of the
landscape irrigation system including sprinkler,
valve, and controller installation.

IQ™ v2.0 Operator

This training introduces the IQ v2.0 Central
Control system software and its primary functions related to basic and advanced irrigation
operation, monitoring, programming and
reporting. Programming complexity is equal
to that of a stand-alone irrigation controller
program. The participant should have working
knowledge of the landscape irrigation system
including sprinkler, valve, and controller installation. (Requires a working knowledge of the
Microsoft Windows operating system).

ESP-LX (Series) Operator

This training will teach students how to
program and operate the ESP-LXME Controller
and ESP-LXD Two-Wire Decoder Controller, including using features such as Flow Manager™,
Flow Watch™ and Simulstations™. Students
will also learn proper hands-on installation
techniques for the ESP-LXD, including wiring,
splicing and system troubleshooting with an
AC leakage clamp meter.
1107 - Rain Bird Factory Trained Site
Survey Technician
8 Hours
This training introduces the technician to the
types of surveys required for the Rain Bird Central Control systems using wireless communication protocols. Hands-on activities include
programming the IQ-NCC-GP and IQ-NCC-WF
Network Communication Cartridges using the
IQ Configurator software program in addition
to programming Spread Spectrum radios.

This software training is designed to introduce
and instruct the operator on the basic and
advanced operation of the SiteControl Central
Control system software. Emphasis is placed
on three areas: 1) Database construction 2)
Program writing 3) Daily operation and run
time/flow log analysis of the irrigation cycle.
This training also takes the user through the
key points of the start-up process, effectively
integrating Flo-Manager®, using databases for
importing, establishing maps, troubleshooting, and incorporation of “smart” features into
programs and schedules. This training is also
designed for the Water Manager engaged in
the business of irrigation system management
and monitoring including discussions of soil,
plant and water relationships and advanced
ET based irrigation scheduling. (Requires a
working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows
operating system).
1103 - Rain Bird Factory Trained
SiteControl Technician
8 hours
This hardware training is designed to introduce
and instruct the technician responsible for
the maintenance, upkeep, troubleshooting
and repair of the SiteControl Central Control
system. Training is focused on each of the
system’s hardware components followed with
hands-on installation activities with the Central
Controller, Two-Wire-Interface SAT, Two-WireInterface LINK, Large/Small Decoder Interface,
Satellite Controllers Field Decoders and field

sensors. Various communication protocols
will be demonstrated in both primary and
secondary communication paths. Weather station installation & maintenance, and Freedom
System integration is also covered.

Maxicom Technician

This hardware training is designed to introduce
and instruct the technician responsible for the
maintenance, upkeep, troubleshooting and
repair of the Maxicom Central Control irrigation
system. Training is focused on each of the
system’s hardware components followed with
hands-on installation activities with the Central
Controller, Weather Station, Site SAT, Cluster
Control Unit, Satellite and sensors. Additional
topics include advanced communication protocols covering Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Advanced
Spread Spectrum modems as they integrate
with the Maxicom Central Control system. The
participant should have working knowledge
of the landscape irrigation system including
sprinkler, valve and controller installation.

1220 - Rain Bird Factory Trained Golf
Central Control Operator
8 Hours
Learn how to navigate through Rain Bird’s golf
central control software (Cirrus™, Nimbus™ II,
Stratus™ II, Stratus™ LT, or GO™). Experts will
guide you through Front Office icons and show
you how to make common adjustments to your
system including how to write programs using
the Quick-IRR feature. This class is specifically
designed to provide information necessary
for day-to-day operation of the central control
system. (Requires a working knowledge of the
Microsoft Windows operating system).
1201 - Rain Bird Factory Trained
Integrated Control System (ICS)
Technician (GOLF)
8 hours
Participants in this class will be presented with
information on the Rain Bird Integrated Control System. All aspects of ICS will be covered,
including system architecture, design, installation, operation and troubleshooting. Throughout the class, hands-on activities will be used
to reinforce each section of the training.
Designations for residential irrigation, pump systems and
more golf systems designations will be available in 2013.
