5 The Scholarship Fund Goals
SHORT TERM GOALS:
o  Immediate financial aid to students from low socio-economic
background.
o  Signaling to the Arab community what fields of study are in
high demand in the Israeli job market and increase diversity
of fields.
LONG TERM GOALS:
o  Increase % of graduates, shorten time to graduation.
o  Expand and diversify the fields of study they choose.
o  Increasing the number of Arab students in the Israeli higher
education system.
o  Lead to a broader & better integration into the Israeli
economy and society.
Target Population
Arab students (including Druze and Circassian students) who:
•  Study for their bachelor's degree
•  Come from low socio-economic backgrounds
•  Study in “preferred fields” in institutions recognized by Israel’s
Council for Higher Education (CHE)
“preferred fields”: as determined by the program's steering commicee Specific fields of study that have high demand in the Israeli job market, but have a relaOvely low demand among the Arab students Criteria for selecting Scholarship

The Irteka Scholarship
o  Total number of recipients: 650 new scholarships each
year.
o  Amount: 10,000 NIS (Full tuition) to each student in his
first and second academic years, and 5,000 NIS for the 3rd
year and 4th year (depending on the standard length of the
degree).
