SageGlass® Vertical Exterior Sensor
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The SageGlass Vertical Exterior Sensor provides ambient light feedback for the SageGlass Controls
System. There are two types of Exterior Sensors: Vertical and Horizontal. Vertical sensors are used for
automatic glare control only while Horizontal sensors are used for automatic daylight and glare
control.
The Vertical sensor provides high-angle ambient light feedback and the Horizontal sensor provides
low-angle ambient light feedback. For optimal operation of automatic glare mode both the Vertical
and Horizontal sensors need to be utilized for each elevation. At a minimum, one Vertical sensor must
be mounted per elevation and additional sensors added if the sensor is mounted in an area with
potential shading or a curved elevation.

Vertical Exterior Sensor
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
A mounting template and mounting screws are provided for the Vertical Exterior Sensor, providing the
flexibility to mount on various types of external surfaces. A sealing gasket is pre-applied to the Vertical
sensor to ensure a water-tight seal to the outside surface. A 5/8” (16mm) hole is required for passing the
sensor connector through the wall panel. If the sensor is located under a soffit or overhang the
height-to-width ratio must be 4 to 1 (see Detail 3). Exact sensor placement will be determined on site.
The body of the Vertical sensor can be painted to enhance the aesthetics of the sensor. The translucent
cover much be removed prior to painting and then replaced once the paint has dried. The cover must
be attached in order for the sensor to receive accurate light readings.
