GalileoCDS has created a differential diagnosis solution that will push the
boundaries in neuroradiology, thoracic imaging, body imaging, interventional

A big picture challenge. Literally. It is difficult for a resident or less experienced
radiologist to precisely diagnose pathologies
seen on CT, MRI, US and radiographs - and
form an expert differential diagnosis.
GalileoCDS is an easily accessible, web-based
tool and tablet app that accelerates diagnosis,
reduces time to treatment and make diagnosis
more accurate.
Medical imaging is a data and bandwidth-intensive
computing environment. To fuel the solution, GalileoCDS started by
building a comprehensive database of
neurological diseases and their respective
radiologic characteristics, with thoracic,
abdominal, musculoskeletal and breast
modules to follow. These databases are
surrounded by algorithms and additional
metadata that drive a Clinical Decision Support
System that increases diagnostic accuracy, and
speeds the diagnostic process. Now in preclinical trials, GalileoCDS application
will serve as both a practical interpretation tool
for clinical work and an educational tool in
research and teaching environments.
Storing, manipulating and making thousands of hiresolution images portable across systems required
thoughtful engineering, highly efficient technology and
comprehensive roadmap for scaling and security. Because ClearBlade’s Novi platform includes internetscale database capabilities, GalileoCDS was able to
quickly compile and systematically categorize the vast
amounts of imagery required for diagnosis. Scaling was
accomplished through self-organizing database
instances, removing the burden of load balancing as

Because differential diagnosis relies on a series of
elimination processes, reusable algorithms wrapped in
“microservices”, or small pieces of code on the
ClearBlade Novi server, were the ideal solution to make
the process reusable - and easily applied to both the
web and mobile interface.

ClearBlade Solution with Novi
ClearBlade’s Novi platform serves as the backbone for GalileoCDS application. By federating the database,
algorithm engine and messaging architecture in the Novi platform, GalileoCDS was able to quickly interconnect
