SYMPOSIUM OUTLINE: Fir species grow naturally in a wide range of vegetation zones and site types of Europe, Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions. Some of these species are prone to extinction, others are intensively cultivated. Some species are of great economic importance, but all of them are of high ecological importance for the ecosystems and plant communities they are part of. The aim of the conference is to provide a synoptic overview on latest research outputs in fir ecosystem dynamics, recent threats and suitable management concepts. The Turkish visa policy changes according to countries. VENUE: The conference will be held in Kastamonu-Turkey. The city is located in Western Blacksea Region of Turkiye. The population of the urban center Kastamonu is approximately 104 000 in 2012. The city is believed to have been founded in the 18th century BC. The town was known as Timonion during the Roman period. Within the region, Romans founded a city of Paphlagonia at the town Tasköprü which is nowadays famous for its garlic production. The Dress Code Revolution started at Kastamonu by Atatürk on August 23, 1925. Atatürk made his historical speech concerning about the "Hat and Dress Revolution" in 1925 at his visit to Kastamonu. Near the city (approximately 10 miles) is the village of Kasaba with an important mosque, the Mahmut Bey mosque, from 1366, built in the Seljuk tradition. It is considered to be one of the finest wooden mosques in Turkiye. The door has excellent woodcarving. Kastamonu has a warm-summer humid continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. The average annual precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year, with spring being the wettest season.The climate is usually warm during September. The average temperature is 15 oC in September. The average high is 23.8 oC, the average low is 9.1 oC, the precipitation is 32.3 mm, the humidity is 61%, the average rainy days is 6.8 in this month.
