Northumberland Street
Shops include Primark, Argos, H&M, Superdrug, Clas Ohlson, Currys
PC World, mobile phone outlets, JD Sports and various food outlets
and banks.
Metrocentre
MetroCentre is the largest shopping and leisure centre in Europe
and offers a not-to-be-missed shopping experience.
Shops include House of Fraser, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, HMV,
French Connection, USC and many more.
New leisure and retail facilities have been introduced comprising a
state of the art Odeon cinema, a new family entertainment centre with
bowling, pool, children’s soft play area, dodgems, activity machines
and electronic games and enhanced family dining facilities.
Many buses run from Eldon Square bus station in Newcastle City
Centre and drop off at the coach station at the MetroCentre.

Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art

The Hatton boasts the internationally renowned Kurt Schwitters’ Merzbarn,
which was described by art critic Andrew Graham-Dixon (in History of British
Art, Channel 4) as ‘the seminal piece of 20th century British art’. It also houses
a permanent African collection, as well as temporary exhibitions – FREE ENTRY.

A major international centre for contemporary visual art. This landmark
building is one of the biggest temporary art spaces in Europe – FREE ENTRY.

The Great North Museum: Hancock

Getting around Newcastle and the surrounding areas is easy
benefiting from plenty of public transport and taxis.
For accommodation near the city centre there are several shops to choose
from in walking distance. For properties just outside the City Centre please

How to get your mail
On campus we have several outlets that will serve hot and cold
snacks and meals. Look out for promotions during the year.
For accommodation where there are letterboxes within the front door the
post person will deliver all letters and small packages direct to your flat.
EAT@COURTYARD with a wide range of food available throughout the day.
For accommodation with mailboxes located in a central location the post
person will deliver all letters and small packages direct to your mail box.
You’ll find us next to the Old Library.

The delivery person will attempt to deliver larger packages to your flat. If there
is no reply, reception may take the package in on your behalf; though some
companies will take the package back to their depot leaving a card explaining
how you can retrieve it. In Halls packages will be delivered to your reception.
Please note that receptions will not accept food deliveries on your behalf.
If your package has been left at your reception you must provide your smartcard
as identification before you can collect it during normal reception opening times.
