Join us for Mercy Day on September 23
Friday, September 23 marks Mercy Day, a Walsingham tradition! There will be an Academy-wide liturgy
at 10:30 AM in McAuley Hall, after which the Class of 2017 will receive their senior pins. Finally, seniors
and kindergartners will together walk out to the Green for the Senior-Kindergarten Balloon Release.
Families are welcome to attend!

Academy-Wide Announcements
Parent Board collecting used uniforms: If your student has outgrown his or her uniforms, consider
donating them for the Parent Board’s Used Uniform Sale. All uniform items will be accepted.
Collection bins are located near the LS and US main offices for your convenience. The Used Uniform
Sale will take place on Wednesday, October 19 from 7:30-9:00 AM in the LS Gymnasium.
Enrichment Opportunity: William & Mary's School of Education is hosting "Focusing on the Future:
A Career and Academic Planning Experience" on Saturday, February 4, which exposes high-ability
learners in Grades 6-12 to career opportunities related to the arts, humanities, mathematics, and
sciences. For more information, click here.
Private Music Lessons available: Private music lessons are available for the following instruments:
piano (Grades K-12), flute (Grades 5-12), clarinet (Grades 4-8), saxophone (Grades 5-12), trumpet
(Grades 5-12), and trombone (Grades 5-12). Click here for an information sheet.
Upper School Announcements
Dress uniform required for on 9/23: All Upper School students must be in their dress uniforms with
blazers for the Mercy Day Liturgy on Friday, September 23.
Noon Dismissal, Parent Conference on 9/23: Upper Schoolers will be dismissed at noon on Friday,
September 23 in advance of Parent-Teacher conferences, which take place from 1:00-5:30 PM. All
parent conferences must be scheduled through the main office by 3:00 PM on Thursday, September
22.
Flag Football Tournament POSTPONED: The flag football tournament for Upper School students and
faculty has been postponed until October 22.
Upper School Dance on 9/24: A 70s-themed dance will be held in the Upper School cafeteria on
Saturday, September 24 from 7:00-9:00 PM, sponsored by the Walsingham Spirit Club. There is no
fee for the dance, but ONLY Walsingham students will be allowed to attend.
US Yearbook Information: Click here to place your order for the 2016-17 Upper School Yearbook;
orders are due March 31. Click here to purchase a senior advertisement; ads must be placed by

Lower School Announcements
Registration for after school clubs due 9/23: Walsingham offers over a dozen after school clubs for
students in Grades 3-7. Click here for the flier and registration slip. Registration slips should be
returned to homeroom teachers by Friday, September 23. If you have any questions, contact Kim
Ward at kward@walsingham.org.
LS Dress Down Day on 9/26: Lower School students are invited to wear school appropriate clothes
in place of the school uniform. We invite an emphasis on our theme for the day: red, white, and blue
in honor of our Constitution. No flip-flops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, or short shorts. T-shirts
should be appropriate in message and style. No donation is necessary to participate.
LS Service Project ends 9/26: Lower Schoolers are collecting children’s books, new socks, and new
mittens for underprivileged families in Grundy, VA. Donations can be dropped in the box in the
Lower School foyer through Monday, September 26. Thank you for your donations!
LS Picture Day is 9/28: No uniforms; students should dress to impress! Students will receive proof
sheets approximately two weeks afterward. Parents can either complete the order form or go online
to make purchases. No purchase is necessary to get in the yearbook.
Athletics Announcements
Come cheer on the Trojans! Walsingham hosts six games next week, including Varsity Girls Tennis
facing Bishop Sullivan on Monday, September 26 at 4:00 PM and a doubleheader on Tuesday,
September 27, as Varsity Boys Soccer faces Norfolk Christian at 4:30 PM and Varsity Volleyball opens
