Physics Chemistry ⋅ Biology Technics LEYBOLD DIDACTIC GMBH 9/97-Sf- Instruction Sheet 541 06 Equipment Set E-field Lines Fig. 1 This equipment set enables you to display the lines of electric flux for four different electrode arrangements. An overhead projector can be used for large-scale demonstrations. 1 Safety notes Use only non-hazardous contact voltages (max. 10 kV). Do not clean the components with solvents. 2 Description, technical data 1 Sealed indicator vessel (dia. 9 cm) with oil, fine grains and stirring rod 2 Plates imprinted with electrode cross- sections of conduc- 3 ting material; with 4-mm sockets for connection to high voltage (2.1) 2 plates (plate capacitor model) (2.2) 2 spheres (2.3) sphere and plate (2.4) 2 concentric rings (model of spherical or cylindrical capacitor) Dimensions: 12 cm x 12 cm Storage block 3 Operation additionally required: 1 PVC rod or 1 High voltage power supply, 10 kV 2 High-voltage cables 1 Overhead projector from 541 00 521 70 or 522 37*) 501 05 452 11 Distribute the grains evenly in the indicator vessel by shaking it vigorously. Place a plate with electrodes on the overhead projector. Place the indicator vessel in the middle of the plate. Either transfer the charge from a rubbed PVC rod to a socket, while touching the other socket to drain off the induction charge, or connect a high-voltage power supply (max. 10 kV from 100 µA output). _______ *) no longer available LEYBOLD DIDACTIC GMBH ⋅ Leyboldstrasse 1 ⋅ D-50354 Hürth ⋅ Phone (02233) 604-0 ⋅ Telefax (02233) 604-222 ⋅ e-mail: info@leybold-didactic.de © by Leybold Didactic GmbH Printed in the Federal Republic of Germany Technical alterations reserved
