This pack contains all the information you will need to take on this fundraising challenge and turn your paperclip into pounds! About us At Cornerstone our aim is simple, to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life. Every day across Scotland we support people with disabilities and other support needs to become more independent and active in their community. Our story Established in 1980 we have grown to support over 2,000 children, young people and adults each year across our services. By providing a range of high quality services, designed to meet and respond to the needs of individuals, we are now one of the largest voluntary sector providers of social care in Scotland. Who will my donation help? Cornerstone relies on help from individuals to change the lives of the people we support and we would like to say a huge thank you in advance for all your fundraising efforts. Every penny you raise counts and we could not provide the services we do without your help! Here are some examples of the difference your fundraising could make to the lives of the people we support. £5 – Allows a young person Cornerstone supports to take part in a fun recreational activity. £250 – Allows Cornerstone to run an art group for 20 adults we support. £15 – Gives a child with disabilities that Cornerstone supports the chance to attend an activity club for three hours. £500 – Provides a toy library for one of our Children’s Holiday Play Schemes. £50 – Enables a person Cornerstone supports to gain work experience in one of our social firms. £100 – Provides a child with 24 hours of respite with a foster family when they are experiencing times of significant stress or difficulty at home. £1,000 – Allows Cornerstone to run a 6 week Healthy Living programme for a group of adults we support in one of our Day Opportunities Services. £2,500 – Enables a disabled child Cornerstone supports to have their own specially equipped wheelchair. What is the Paperclip Challenge? It’s very simple; starting with one paperclip you will head out and attempt to carry out a series of trades to obtain an item of higher value each time. You will then sell your final item and all the money you raise will go towards Cornerstone, helping us to continue to provide services across Scotland. The concept of the paperclip challenge originated with Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald, who went from the red paperclip holding his CV together, to owning a house, in only 14 trades! This amazing accomplishment demonstrated a great number of skills and characteristics such as drive, entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and persistance. Do you think you have what it takes to take on the paperclip challenge!? To give you some inspiration, take a look at Kyle’s 14 trades below .
