MC CARTHY MIDDLE SCHOOL 250 North Road Chelmsford, MA 01824 (978)251-5122 Fax (978)251-5130 Kurt McPhee, M.Ed. Principal Donna Martin, M.Ed. Asst. Principal Danielle Baillargeon, M.Ed Dear Incoming Fifth Grader: Welcome to McCarthy Middle School! I am Mrs. Baillargeon, your homeroom teacher for fifth grade. I am very excited that you will be in my class. Our room number is 231. We are on the second floor of the building overlooking the Chelmsford Police Station. The flags look beautiful from our classroom windows. There are two teachers on our team: Mrs. Skelton and myself. Together we teach all of the “team” subjects: math, science, English language arts, and social studies. We also take field trips together and have other team-wide activities. On our team we have students from Harrington, Byam, Center, and South Row schools – so you will be in classes with old friends and you will make new friends, too. There are some important things for you to do this summer to get ready for fifth grade. On the Chelmsford Public Schools Website you will find a section titled “Summer at CPS.” There you will find your summer reading expectations. All incoming fifth graders are expected to read No Talking by Andrew Clements. You also have mandatory activities waiting for you on Study Island which is a website for your summer math assignment. These are two very important ways to prepare you for success. A third summer project is to please buy some supplies for you and our team. The list is on the next page. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Mrs. Skelton and I will see you on the first day of school, Wednesday, September7th!
