In the past we have done this sort of thing on a much more informal basis, but in the world we live in today, we need to be much more proactive about these sorts of things to insure our club’s stability and continued improvement. The members who worked so hard a few years back to revise our bylaws had the foresight to include provisions for these important functions as an integral part of our club’s structure. I’m glad we finally have a core group of members willing to take this on. The planning committee has been meeting regularly and putting a great deal of effort into coming up with some long range direction for our club, long range plans for improvements and maintenance, and ideas for how to structure our finances to make those plans work. These are important tasks that will, I suspect, require making some difficult decisions and recommendations. They will be presenting a report at one of the regular monthly meetings in the near future. Watch for it and please support them in these vital tasks. For the time being, the planning committee has also assumed some of the roles of the finance committee as the functions are so interdependent. The bylaws stipulate that the finance committee be chaired by the vicepresident and consist of four additional club members. After the December elections, when we fill the vice president’s position again, one of our priorities will be to staff the finance committee. Please consider participating in this important committee. Besides all of that, fall is here, the pistol league season is starting, and the hunting seasons are opening up. Rich will be starting the Friday Night Pistol Shoots, the Fall Ham & Bean Supper is coming up, and the annual Black Powder Turkey Shoot will be here before you know it. I hope to see you at any or all of these events. I’d like to thank all of the members who are planning and organizing these events, and thanks to all of you for your participation and support. THURSDAY NIGHT ARCHERY There’s a lot of fun going on at the club and it’s not always the old timers having it! The indoor archery range has been a big hit with the younger generation of the club. Bows are being tuned, sights are being adjusted, and the kids are learning skills that will last them a life time. This is not to say that the adults aren’t having any fun. They certainly are enjoying themselves also. The coffee is hot and there’s usually a box of donuts in the kitchen . The shooting starts at 6 pm and lasts until about 9. The kids usually shoot first and then alternate with the adults. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the night. There are some junior bows that the club owns if you have a child that wants to try archery but doesn’t own a bow.
