Certification PLC HMI SENSOR ENCODER COUNTER INFORMATION ISO9001/UL/CUL/EU There are various regulations and ordinances, public authorizations, and other approvals that need to be cleared when installing automated systems around the world. Such conditions differ totally according to the location and conditions of the user. For example, national laws, local ordinances and European Union (EU) directives cover wide areas. Some laws and regulations and conditions are introduced below. We will also explain the effects to be received as PLC users. ■ISO9001 Manufacturers make products in accordance with a series of documented quality-related procedures and some users limit their suppliers only to companies that handle such products. Koyo Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. manufactures most PLC products we currently market, and has acquired ISO9001 certification like our other alliance companies. A copy of the ISO certificate appears in this catalog. ■Underwriters Laboratories (UL/CUL) The Underwriters Laboratories is one of the most authoritative safety test execution / accreditation organizations in the world. For safety and for the purpose of proving compliance, UL approval is required in most user applications. Among various notable standards provided by the UL, the most applicable ones are UL508 (commercial-use control panel standards) and UL1604 (hazardous location standards). For the latest information, visit Koyo Electronics' website. ■European Union (EU) Directives This authorization is absolutely indispensable when launching business in Europe. Although it is similar to one of the critical problems that EU member countries and the European Economic Area (EEA) currently face, the directives call for establishing common standards for member countries by unifying different standards into one. The main purpose of this unification of standards is to facilitate the buying, selling and transport of products among countries, and maintain safe working and living environments. The "directives" that are born as a "harmonization" of such standards serve as legal conditions when conducting business in Europe at present. It is obliged to affix CE marks to products that meet such directives in order to clarify compliance. There is one question that is often asked when we discuss the CE. The "directives" are revised and added if necessary. - Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive This directive provides the standards for guaranteeing that products released onto the market do not cause other devices including radio and telecommunications equipment to fail because emitted electromagnetic waves. - Machinery Safety Directive This directive provides the standards for device and installation safety. It includes several fields such as testing standards that cover both measures against noise and noise generation. - Undervoltage Directive This directive provides the safety standards for electrical equipment that has a voltage range of 50 to 1000 V AC or 75 to 1500 V DC. - Battery Directive This directive provides the standards for manufacturing, recycling and disposal of batteries. 614 KOYO ELECTRONICS INDUSTRIES CO., LTD. GENERAL CATALOG 2016 Where does the Warranty Responsibility Lie as to the Compliance with These Directives? Ultimately, the manufacturer bears all responsibility to the extent of various small points. The manufacturer must perform tests on products and document not only all test results but also installation procedures necessary to comply with the directives. Companies that install machines are obliged to install products in ways that guarantee the maintenance of compliance. Moreover, when combining products, it is necessary to perform tests as to whether products can or cannot comply with the directives if used together. End-users of products must comply with directives that cover the maintenance and disposal of products and various parts. Although Koyo Electronics Industries is making the utmost effort to provide the best support to users, it is impossible to perform tests on our products by making as many arrangements as all individual directives cite. Therefore, ultimately, it is the customer’s responsibility to make their devices comply with such directives (as a whole) and continuously respond to various directives and training required for compliance. CE Label-affixed Direct Logic Products The DL05, DL06, DL205, D3, and D4 series and terminator I/O PLC systems, which are manufactured by Koyo Electronics Industries, were certified under EU directives in March 2002. If correctly installed and used, products made by Host Engineering, Inc. or FACTS Engineering meet the standard conditions set by the Electromagnetic (EMC) Compatibility Directive, Undervoltage Directive, and the Machinery Safety Directive shown on the next page. * It is expected to change in July 2014. Each time in the Company, please check for the CE marking. IEC61000-3-2 Power Factor Correction This standard is designed to reduce the amount of disturbance that a device feeds back to the power source. The CE marks are affixed to all Koyo Electronics' power sources. Normally, our power source complies with 61000-3-2, but the standard itself is not applicable. However, only the PS24-150D and PS24-300D power source may be used in methods that do not comply with the 61000-3-2 standard. - EMC directives and standards related to PLCs EN50081-1: Electromagnetic compatibility.
