airport retailers, with over 500 stores in 20 countries.
Shopping in a rush
In the newly re-opened Heathrow Terminal 2 –
the Queen’s Terminal, World Duty Free Group
has to serve huge numbers of shoppers at
peak times, many of whom are rushing
to catch flights. The airport retailer chose
Worldpay Total Mobile as a flexible, costeffective way for staff to take payments, not
just at till point, but throughout the store.
Payments on the fly
With a tablet or mobile device connected to
a portable card reader, shop assistants can
roam the shop floor, assisting customers in
their shopping journey and taking payments

Revolutionising how fans pay across the Twickenham Stadium
In just nine months, it was clear to see
exactly how much mobile payments and
Contactless boosted our bottom line.
The revenue uplift is substantial.

At international rugby matches, 82,000 fans fill Twickenham Stadium
outside London – the world’s largest dedicated rugby union venue.
Keeping huge crowds happy
During half time, and after the game, fans
flood the concourse to buy food, drinks
and merchandise. The Rugby Football Union
(RFU) was looking for a way to sell more, help
serve fans faster and shorten long queues.
They also wanted all payments to be handled by
a single provider to simplify and reduce costs.
Cutting queues with Contactless
Choosing Worldpay Total allowed the RFU
to accept all major credit and debit cards via
their EPoS systems. Worldpay also introduced
Contactless payments, which has dramatically
reduced waiting times. All the bars, food
stalls and shops are now serving more people
during peak times. This activity can all be
tracked and reconciled via the time saving
reporting portal, Worldpay Total Manager.

Increasing the value of card payments
George Vaughan, Senior Project Manager at
the RFU, says: “It’s clear to see the value we
get from using Worldpay Total to take more
card payments. Since we rolled out the new
service, the value of payments taken has
grown three-fold (314%)”.
Enhancing the corporate box experience
With Worldpay Total Mobile, the RFU can now
make sure valuable customers in the corporate
boxes are served immediately. Guests don’t
have to get up from their seat to pay and
miss any of the game, or worry about settling
their tab at the end of the event. It’s a huge
improvement of service quality, and has resulted
in a 44% increase in the value of payments in
the corporate boxes. Having worked with the
RFU since 1990, Worldpay now looks after all
payments made at the Twickenham Stadium,
as well as all eCommerce payments made
through the RFU website.

Hammonds is a national, family run
company that makes and designs
fitted furniture.
From handwritten forms to mobile platform
Once a design has been agreed, Hammonds

Wireless card machines boost
sales for Cambridge hotspot
La Raza is a well-established hospitality
business, based in Cambridge. With
two busy city centre bar/restaurants
employing 45 people, the company
wanted to maximise sales with fast
and efficient card payments.
Shorter waiting times, improved service
Worldpay Total was chosen as the payment
service provider for La Raza after changing
Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) system providers
to Maître D’, which has an existing relationship
with Worldpay. Wireless card machines were
introduced at La Raza’s first outlet, offering
secure integrated payments between the till
system and mobile card machines. This allows
staff to accept card payments at customers’
tables, improving service quality and cutting
waiting times. All transactions from multiple
devices and locations can be managed through
a real-time online portal, simplifying the process
and saving time for employees at La Raza.
Growing the bottom line
With the new terminals, La Raza is processing
around £35,000 in card transactions per
month at just one site, and there are clear
indications that the wireless card machines
have helped La Raza grow its bottom line.
La Raza is now considering adding Dynamic
Currency Conversion to allow Cambridge
visitors from outside the UK to pay in their
local currency.
