Since RSG Engineering Limited was originally founded in the early
1960’s we have been committed to, and have taken pride in,

Installation training related to RSG products and systems can be carried
out in our workshop or at your premises dependent upon the product’s
specification. All of our engineers are fully trained and qualified with

Experience
All of our product and system engineers have expert knowledge of the
complexities of modern vehicle design as well as their electronic and
electrical control systems such as CAN Bus.
Craftsmanship
In addition to their engineering abilities our vehicle installation training
team take great pride in their workmanship. They endeavour to demonstrate
that all new wiring is installed as an integral part of the vehicle’s original
wiring loom, and, that all panelling is replaced correctly and in it’s original
condition. In fact, there will be little or no effect on body work, trim,
panels or CAN bus data.

RSG Engineering is one of only 3 companies to be officially
appointed to the Home Office Lightbar Framework Agreement.
We are particularly delighted with this appointment as this
reinforces that our offerings are economically advantageous
based on their very stringent selection criteria.
Furthermore we are an active member of the Home Office OBSVA
& DVDMS Consortium and fully support the CiA447 Protocol.
Full Service
Whether you have a single vehicle or a small fleet, RSG has a range of
products to offer a full fit out from start to finish including hazard warning
equipment, data recording devices and full livery. Noting that in conjunction
with this, RSG can provide an expert installation advisory service as well
as producing initial sample vehicles.
Manufacture
Having our own manufacturing facility in the same building enables us to
provide that extra level of service. Being able to modify and manufacture
equipment on site is of great benefit especially when dealing with special
requirements.
We manufacture and assemble a range of products including lightbars and
switch panels to customer specification. The development of new products
and bespoke projects is carried out by our experienced in-house product
design team who utilise the latest CAD software.
Specialised Data & Video Recording Training
We have created a range of training programs in order that customers can
make the most of the data provided from journey recorders and video
surveillance systems.
These training courses can be scheduled to take place at RSG’s premises
or at premises of your choosing.

Covert Vehicle Hazard Warning LED Lighting
for both the blue and amber markets
Covert LED modules are generally installed in the vehicle’s headlight
and tail light housing making them virtually un-noticeable when not
in use, however, when on, high intensity, next generation LEDs result
in exceptional light output when in use, even in bright sunlight.
We believe that we have put together an excellent, diverse range of covert
LED modules to suit the majority of applications. A selection of the modules
are also available with a plastic bezel to facilitate surface mounting the
module onto the vehicle bodywork and wing mirrors.
A sealed, in-line driver unit, complete with sufficient cable, eliminates the
need for a remote power supply, considerably reducing the amount of
damage incurred to the vehicle during installation.
The range includes single head and dual head versions that can operate at
12v, 24v or both (see individual product for details). Multiple modules
can be configured to flash alternately or simultaneously, where the W600
split colour version is unique in that it can be independently switched
between colours.

External Vehicle Hazard Warning LED Lighting
for both the blue and amber markets
External LED modules are generally installed in the grille or at salient
points on the exterior bodywork of the vehicle. However, they are
increasingly being introduced into the interior, particularly into
the tail gate. This is due, in part, to recent guidelines stating that
‘All RPG (Roads Policing Group) vehicles and any other vehicle
involved in attending incidents on high speed roads should have
high level blue/red LED lights fitted in the tailgate in the highest
position’. It was found that low level lighting and roof lighting were
obscured when the tailgate was raised. This also applies to road
side workers using amber lights. Approval to ECE R65 also applies
in some circumstances.
Mini Stealth LED-634-03
3-way, 6-way & 12-way Surface Mount LED Modules
Mini Stealth Surface Mount LED modules are extremely powerful and
compact units. They are available with 3, 6 or 12, high intensity LEDs set
within a low profile housing.
Surface Mount Mini Stealth’s have a sealed, weather resistant aluminium housing
that can be fixed directly to the ‘surface’ or ‘inset’ with the use of a rubber boot. A
range of mounting brackets for alternative applications are available.
All versions operate at 12v and 24v, are supplied complete with fixings and mounting
gaskets and multiple modules can be configured to flash simultaneously or alternately.
They are also e-approved and have a 5 year warranty. R65 versions are also available.

Mini Stealth Flush Fit LED modules are extremely powerful and compact
units. They are available with 3 or 6 in-line, high intensity LEDs set within
an adjustable light head.

Flush Fit Mini Stealth’s have a sealed, robust, weather resistant aluminium housing
and are supplied complete with a wrap around bracket that slides over the surface
edge and is secured in position from below. The unit can also be used without the
wrap around bracket to fit directly to the surface or suspend from a roof lining.

External Vehicle Hazard Warning LED Lighting
The NEW 3-way and 4-way Diablo II LED modules are now dual voltage
with an aluminium base that is glued and snap fit to the low profile
polycarbonate lens.
The wide viewing angle of the next generation, super bright LEDs means that they
are particularly suitable for mounting on the wing or grille of a vehicle as well as
many other warning and safety applications.
• Supplied with black plastic bezel, rubber flange and fixings for surface mounting
the modules
• Additional rubber boots for insetting the module into the body work and ‘L’
shaped brackets are available to order
• Multiple modules can be configured to flash simultaneously or alternately
• The 3-way version has 12 and the 4-way version has 19 built-in flash patterns
• Available in blue, red, amber and white, the 4-way version is also available
in blue/red but switched together

The BX Bullitt range of LED modules are available single, dual or multicolour.
Due to the use of FX technology BX Bullitt modules are low cost, reliable and extremely
bright.
Dual colour versions operate in two different colours while multi-colour versions have
a choice of 10 different colours, both types have the option to pre-set 2 chosen colours
to operate separately or alternately.

The Circular Cluster has been primarily developed for vehicle warning
where finding space and a flat surface to fit is a challenge.
The LED Cluster has an in-built flasher circuit which can provide an alternating or

Circular Cluster LED Module
Stealth RegPlate Number Plate Warning System
The Stealth RegPlate was created to meet customer requests for specific
hazard warning requirements suitable for frontline vehicles.
The unit was initially designed for use on vehicles with a flat front bumper and was
an immediate success. We then developed a lightweight flexible version that would
fit the majority of vehicles with a curved front bumper.
All devices comprise of two vertical 6-way slimline LED modules set into each end of
a robust, weatherproof housing. Simply remove the number plate from the vehicle,
secure the Stealth RegPlate in its place and attach the original number plate to the
front of the unit, thereby creating a discreet warning light that illuminates to the side
from the front of the vehicle.
Heavy Duty - Flat Bumper
In addition to providing an extra warning light at a critical angle, it also blends into
the bodywork when not in use making it ideal for covert applications.
Designed to fit standard number plate apertures the RegPlate operates at 12v and
24v and is available in blue and amber.

The MirrorMaster has been upgraded to incorporate one or two Micro-Lite
4 LED modules. The ultra-bright 4-way modules are set within a custom
designed, vacuum formed plastic shroud.

Temporary Rear Window LED Warning Light
The Rear Window Warning Light has amazing light output via 2 x 3-way blue
and 2 x 3-way red Diablo LED modules set into a custom moulded PVC housing.
Part of the success of this product is the extremely strong and fully adjustable suction
mounting bracket which allows the unit to be fitted in the vehicle rear window and
adjusted to match it’s angle. In addition, the suction cup’s quick release mechanism
means that it can be quickly and easily transferred between vehicles.
The unit is 12/24v and is supplied with a 1m un-terminated lead as standard or with

LED Message Display Units
LED Message Display Units incorporate extra large LEDs, each of
which has it’s own individual flash back shield to prevent light
dissipation and increase visual clarity, they are specifically
manufactured for this product allowing the message to be read
up to 150 metres away.
Up to 2000 characters are either pre-programmed in-house at RSG, or
a programming tool which operates in conjunction with a PC may be
purchased to enable you to program your own unique messages.
Simply scroll through the messages via the easy to use handset until you
find the message you require. Messages can be static, flashing, cycling and
scrolling for ganged units. On start up the handset remembers the last
message displayed.
Three options of Message Display Unit are available; fixed for a permanent
viewing position; flip-up and flip-down which are motorised and fold neatly
away, ideal for covert use.

O-LED control panel, taking message display into a new age!
It’s low profile design has a sealed enclosure and connections which
are ingress protected to IP67. All versions operate at both 12v and 24v.
The high brightness LED display with extra wide viewing angle has
co-moulded TIR optics producing 10mm pixels. Optically tinted lenses

Lighting Regulations Guide
Traffic Signs Manual - Chapter 8 Requirements
‘Chapter 8’ in the UK Government Traffic Signs Manual are a series of traffic safety measures for vehicles situated at road works and
temporary situations. They include recommendations for vehicle warning lights, including beacons, when a vehicle is stopped on the
highway for works purposes or inspections, as well as entering, leaving or moving within a works site and when travelling in traffic at

The manual ‘suggests’ that vehicles in road side works or inspections should be equipped with either a roof mounted amber lightbar,
comprising of at least ‘two independent light sources’ or ‘two independent’ roof mounted amber beacons’, visible through 360 degrees.
In some European countries, which is the case in the UK, all amber warning products used must comply with the requirements of Road
Vehicle Lighting Regulations and be ECE Regulation 65 approved to ensure the correct intensity of light output is omitted.

ECE Regulation 65
This regulation known as ‘United Nations Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regulation 65 on Special Warning Lamps’ covers labelling, light
output (intensity and dispersion), flash rate and colour for beacons, lightbars and directional lights, where the key points are briefly:

Regulation 65 applies to rotating and directional warning lights, such as those utilised in lightbars and additional vehicle lighting.
It sets a standard for colour, light intensity, light distribution and frequency. Heat resistance, cold start and water ingress are also measured.
Manufacturers must ensure that all products carrying this approval consistently comply with the standards.
Customers can have the confidence that products showing this approval, meet the necessary standard in all markets which have adopted
ECE Regulation 65.
• Regulation 65 is now law in all European Countries and is slowly being adopted in most of them. Although now recognised and accepted
in the UK the take up is slow simply because users are not aware of this requirement. As such, education is needed to ensure this
regulation is specified as standard on individual, small and large fleets and particularly government vehicles.
Light Output:
Each lightbar, beacon or directional light is tested for light intensity and light dispersion to comply with set conditions for Class I or Class II
(night and day intensity levels) for its colour range and product category.
Class I (XA1 & XB1) has to achieve the set night light intensity level.
Class II (XA2 & XB2) is able to switch between the set day and night light intensity levels.
For example: a rotating amber beacon would have to meet a set light intensity at 0º and reach a set percentage of light intensity at +/- 8º,
through 360º for Class I. To achieve Class II certification the beacon would have to be able to switch to daytime levels, which are 2.3 times
brighter for amber. This operational switch is manual by the operator and not automatic.

Flash rate:
Flash rate between 2 - 4Hz. Lightbars containing more than 2 light sources in each half of the lightbar must be synchronised with each other.
Labelling:
Each beacon or lightbar type is submitted for test and certification with detailed drawings of the location of all light sources, general
assembly of the product and brand name and model. Any changes to these specifications may mean the unit would require re-testing.
All ECE R65 labelling must be clearly visible, together with the brand name and model number.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is a major quality feature for optical and acoustic signalling systems and describes two factors:
• Radiated interference: the limitation of radiated electromagnetic interference to a level that guarantees the interference-free operation
of other devices in the environment
• Immunity to interference: guaranteeing sufficiently high resistance to electro-magnetic interference acting from the outside

work with industry studies and other experts to set standards. SAE sets the standards for all lighting on a vehicle. While SAE is not law in
most areas, it is a best-practices standard that the entire automotive world pays attention to.

In order to supply equipment and systems to the Emergency Services Police Authorities and Fire Service, for automotive use, it must be
approved to the Home Office standard that complies with the type of tests that its Automotive and Equipment Section (AES) requires to
meet the latest ‘Version’ of its Specification 5.

CAP 168
Civil Aviation Publication 168 (CAP168)
The correct type of beacon or lightbar must not dazzle flight crew in their elevated position to the ground servicing vehicles. The beacon or
lightbar light must be static flash Airport CAP168 Compliant.
