ATI is currently seeking a Testing and Certification Manager to take us to the next level of product reliability. In this position you will play a critical role in creating and vetting innovative solar tracking products that change the way energy works in the world. The Testing and Certification Manager will define, grow and lead a high performance team working in a highly collaborative environment. The manager will engage at each step of the product lifecycle to help drive Company success. He or she will work closely with the engineering, operations, and product teams to define and drive test strategies, architecture, and process. The manager will determine, evaluate, and improve processes with respect to product certification, as well as design, validation, and test (DVT) engineering. The manager will participate in a hands on manner as s/he leads various projects. The manager will rely on their own extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position is full-time and exempt. Pay is commensurate with experience. Duties and Responsibilities Manage, mentor, and develop certification and test engineering team, including engineers, engineering techs, interns, and/or drafters. Lead activities to optimize and drive the DVT engineering process. Create, populate, and/or maintain databases for tracking validation activities, test results, and validated systems. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ATI product portfolio, including DVT and NPI documents, such as product specifications, test reports and data, design of experiments, DFMEA. Develop validation master plans, process flow diagrams, and test cases. Detect design problems and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes. Maintain DVT documents, such as test reports and data, design of experiments, DFMEA, and product specifications. Responsible for quality of test plans, execution, documentation, and data. Collaborate in the creation of product functional specifications, designs, and the testing for new products to ensure certification requirements are addressed throughout the entire product lifecycle. Participate in the certification standards’ bodies and keep abreast of emerging standards as required by the business. Manage the certification process for the company's new and existing products with the objective of obtaining certification in a timely and cost effective manner. Manage project certification compliance, including site visits and evaluations. Participate in preliminary design review and MRB meetings as needed. Travel - Some travel required to vendors and construction sites to perform inspections and tests. Interpret test results and data and make improvement suggestions. Provide ATI test strategy leadership while working with other engineering managers and functional groups (i.e. Quality) within ATI. Define key performance, quality, and stability metrics for team and product; set goals for these metrics and drive towards them. Evaluate and implement tool and technology choices. Proven leadership abilities to manage and grow an engineering team. Ability to work with, collaborate, and communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles, involved in high volume manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and structural components. Candidate must have good organizational and time-management skills. Computer skills required include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solidworks. CAD and Programming skills a plus. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check Education and Experience Minimum of 6 years of relevant technical experience in mechanical, structural and electromechanical machine design, or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience managing engineers. Master’s degree in mechanical engineering field or equivalent. Experience in utility-scale solar market highly preferred. Relevant certifications, coursework, or degrees are a plus. Metal/Steel fabrication background preferred.
