Course
description:
Provides instruction in architectural CAD drawing creation and editing, program customization, CAD
standards, file manipulation/translation, and library creation/usage. Discusses basic computer
hardware, software and operating systems.
Prerequisites:
Microcomputer Applications or Intro to Computers, Architectural Sketching and Architectural Plans &
Specs or instructor approval.

Assessment of
Student
Learning:
The student will receive a Course Schedule that lists topics covered in this course. To fulfill
requirements for the course, the student must complete coursework and submit it for evaluation to
the instructor.
The instructor may modify the Course Schedule when necessary to accommodate unforeseen
circumstances. The student is responsible for staying abreast of schedule changes as well as new
assignments announced in class. The student may use the Class Schedule as a guide to pace
his/her work outside the classroom.
Late Work/Makeup Test Policy:
There will be no make-up assignments and/or quizzes unless previously agreed upon with instructor.
Incomplete or missing assignments/quizzes will receive a grade 0.

Punctual and regular attendance is required. If a class session needs to be missed, the student is
expected to send the instructor an email or call the instructor or main office prior to missing the class

The student will withdraw from the class after THREE absences (excused or unexcused) unless
agreed upon in writing with the instructor prior to the absences.

Expectations:
Class begins promptly. Please be on time and come prepared to each session with the appropriate
class materials. Contact instructor for clarification of schedule or assignments.
Student should view the classroom as a professional work environment. No eating, drinking, smoking
or chewing tobacco is allowed. Please keep workstation clean. Dispose of trash in appropriate
containers. DO NOT INSTALL SOFTWARE ON ANY KIRKWOOD COMPUTER.
Turn off cell phones, pagers, MP3 players, radios and other similar devices during the lecture
portion of class.

Students with disabilities who need accommodations to achieve course objectives should file an
accommodation application with Learning Services, Cedar Hall 2063 and provide a written plan of
accommodation to your instructor prior to the accommodation being provided.
Student
Evaluation:
In order to receive full credit, the student must complete assignments by their scheduled due date
unless he/she has scheduled a new due date with the instructor prior to the assignment due date.
The Course Schedule lists the required assignments and their point values. All work must be
completed on time. No late work is accepted. Any work not submitted by date due will receive a
grade of 0. It is the student’s responsibility to make back-up copies of their files.
Pop Quizzes may be given at any time. Pop quizzes will be added to the overall grade and increase
the total number of points possible for the course.
How final grades
are determined:
The instructor will grade assignments based on the appropriateness of their presentation. The
student should focus on executing each assignment to the best of his/her abilities and not on speedy
completion of assignments. The instructor will not accept work that does not meet minimum
expectations and will receive a grade of 0.
