Our M.A. programme and electives offered by the Department attracts lot of students
from other departments

does the department utilize the feedback?
Yes. Feedback received from the faculties is placed before the Departmental
Committee to revise the curriculum.
b. Students on staff, curriculum and teaching-learning-evaluation and how
does the department utilize the feedback?
Students on staff – every academic year feedback is obtained by the IQAC and
the findings are communicated to the faculty individually every year. The
feedback is taken into account for confirmation/ promotion.
c. Alumni and employers on the programmes offered and how does the
department utilize the feedback?
YES – Representation from Industries are members of the Board of Studies.

there is involvement with the local community and society

The courses offered in the department are unique. Our MA course is the only course
available in the country and we are able to attract lot of foreign students.
We teach some special subjects like Ethics, Yoga and Tamil Philosophy so that the
values are inculcated among the students

(SWOC) of the department.
Strength: Competency of the faculty and introduction of innovative courses
Weakness: Shortage of staff
Opportunities: Attracts international scholars to study Indian Philosophy.
Challenges: To attract students for philosophy course.
52. Future plans of the department.
The Department is planning to introduce a course in Yoga and Personality
Development. The department has sufficient resource and this course will bring lot of
job opportunities for students.
